Lately, I have no time for myself. Nor for my hair.

Yes, lots of us took hair for granted. We’re too busy caring for our other part of the body (read: face). Then….hair start falling. Then…we panicked. 

What to do when you have no time to actually relaxing for many hours in a hair salon and do hair spa? Seriously, do we really need hair spa or cream bath treatment to make our hair healthier? Apparently all my questions were answered when me and fellow bloggers were invited to the launch of L’Oreal Paris Hair Mask in Rumah Imam Bonjol, Jakarta. 

PR Manager of L’Oreal Paris Indonesia, Antania Hanjani explained, “All that hair tugging or just too hard scalp massage during your cream bath session, generally will make hair falling condition worst. Yes, maybe you feel more relaxed, but your scalp will get oilier and your hair will fall more.”

I’m surprised to found out that it actually takes just one minute in a week to transform dry and dull looking hair. Complete your hair shampoo and conditioner regimen with L’Oreal Paris Hair Mask, especially if you noticed signs of dryness and damage on your hair (thanks to those processing like coloring, perming or straightening). Yes, it’s an essential part of hair repairing strategy, to boost your hair’s shine and health in just a minute a week. Certainly we can do this, right? 

All these time, many people think that shampoo and conditioner was just enough for at home hair care regimen. You see, conditioner is just adding moisture back into your hair after shampoo and make your hair easier to comb (especially if you have long hair like me). But, hair mask was designed for repair purposes, mainly to improve hair condition. Deep nourishment as I might said, without the need to heavily massage the scalp. 

At the event, we got the hair mask treatment (yeay!). First, shampoo, conditioner and last, hair mask. As you can see, even the textures of conditioner and mask are very much different. Conditioner is much lighter like lotion, while mask is more creamy.

Convenient in a 20ml sachet for one time usage, I chose Smooth Intense Hair Mask which is perfect for my hair condition. I experienced a lot of ‘tangled when wet’ hair moment, so I found it amazing when the hair stylist at the event combed my wet hair so easily!

I eat. A lot. 

Check out my instagram (@shintarosvita), and you’ll see my good food posts. Yup not much veggies, fruits nor milk in sight. Yet, as an adult, I know that I need fibers and my bones need calcium to keep osteoporosis at bay. I’ve tried a couple of adult milk and nothing tickled my taste bud. Some of them even smell and taste like iron. 

This week, I received this new adult milk, APTA + GLUKOFIT. Produced by Combiphar, this is the first nutrition product from the health company. Except fibers and calcium, it has vitamins and minerals too, like B1, B2, B3, B5, B6, B9 and B12. Promised to keep that fuller feeling longer (yeay!), this adult milk will also manage the level of blood sugar. Calcium will help to prevent osteoporosis and the vitamins produced energy for our body. All this great nutrition in a box? I am sold!

Inside the box (I received the French Vanilla), there are 3 sachets. One sachet (60gr) was made for one time consumption with 200ml water.

Recommended to use hot water first to dissolve the milk powder perfectly, then add ice cubes if you wish.

I’m not a big fan of milk as some gave me nausea, but Apta + Glukofit tasted like no other milk I’ve tried. I love the taste of the French Vanilla flavour (by the way, they have another flavour, Belgian Chocolate). And…it’s not as sweet as others. It did make me fuller longer, too. If this is one of the way to start a healthy lifestyle, apparently it’s not as hard as I think. I’m gonna start with this and maybe more veggies and fruits in the future?

MUST TRY BODY TREATMENT

Yesterday, I had a chance to try one of the body treatment from Natura Derma Cosmeceutical Body Clinic. Located inside Galeries Lafayette 2nd floor, on Pacific Place, Jakarta, it has a beauty concept which combines cosmetic with pharmaceutical function. 

They also have range of Cosmeceutical products made from natural ingredients with high end technology, claimed to no side effects like inflammation, redness or dependency of usage.

They have one big treatment room and two smaller ones inside Galeries Lafayette and I was lucky to experience their “BIO REVERSE AGING” Body Treatment in the bigger room.

Very nice room with soft lighting, perfect for relaxing. Before the treatment, the therapist will serve us beauty drink, a cup of PHYTO COLLAGEN PLUS. And off for the two hours body treatment. 

BIO REVERSE AGING Body Treatment is not just a body massage. First, the therapist will apply REJUVENA HERBAL CREAM and massage it with her two hands. The cream smells like herbal (for me, it smells like ginseng) but actually it has seven active natural ingredients mixed with Transdermal Phyto-Hormone and Nano Technology. This Phyto-Hormone cream is known to be very effective in hormone balancing, and detoxing. When applied and gently massage, you can see the dead skins literally flaking off.

FYI, the cream itself cost Rp 2 million a jar. And yes, for the whole body, it took a jar. So one treatment cost Rp 2.5 million. See how special this body treatment is? And that black instrument is GUASHA. Made from tortoise shell, it was believed to bring positive and long live energy when used. It will be use in this treatment after the therapist lightly massaged the cream with her hands. By gentle strokes and pressing at once, it sort of remind me of acupressure treatment. My body felt a lot lighter and more relaxed after this treatment. The therapist recommended to have this treatment once a week to detox and reduce those inches! Yup it’s great for slimming too, folks.

WELCOME SPOTLESS FREE SKIN

Apparently we’re Asians love to have more fairer skin. That’s why a lot of international cosmetics company created ranges of brightening, lightening, whitening skincare products, you name it. And obviously, who’s not afraid of dull skin? I am. But I don’t want to have whiter skin, I just want skin that look bright like it glows from within and free of those ugly dark spots. 

ESTEE LAUDER launched a new line called CRESCENT WHITE to replace their previous brightening range, Cyber White. Not only providing moisture balance, this face cream provides brightening benefits as well. It look thick inside the jar, but once applied, it feels light, I barely feel a thing. The scent reminds me of Iced Lychee Tea. Hmm… a refreshing scent for such a serious skincare product. Me likey! The great part about this cream, it’s suitable for both day and night use.

SUN, FEARLESS, FEMALE

I have to admit, I’m so lazy on putting on sunscreen. It’s bad, I know. But what can I say, I don’t dig the scent of most sunscreen lotion.

Mostly they smell like coconuts, which I feel way too beachy when I actually live nowhere near the beach. And they remind me of summer vacation, which I don’t think I’ll be getting one soon this year *sigh*. Worst part, they’re way too sticky and look oily when applied. 

Then one day, these cute package arrived at my doorstep, thanks to Dewi Sri Spa. Dewi Sri Spa is one of the luxury brand from Martha Tilaar Group which specialised in premium spa range product with natural ingredients from Indonesia. And SURYA MAJAPAHIT is their latest spa range.

There are three products in the range as you can see, Cooling Shower Gel, Sun Protection Lotion and Soothing Body Gel. With essential oils of Javanese Lotus, Licorice and White Rice, this is one unique series, I might say. Consists of two aftersun products and one sun protection lotion, I’m already relieved that they don’t have any coconuts in their ingredients lists. Finally, a sun protection lotion with SPF 40 that I can apply daily without the scent of going to the beach in a bikini. Hello, people! I’m going to the office inside an air-conditioned building with full clothes on every day, what do you expect?

Comes in white and creamy texture, this lotion will absorb quickly on clean skin. Apply before you head out the door to protect your skin from the harsh rays of UVA and UVB. 

And I really love the idea of cooling shower gel. Imagine, after all that outdoor activities, going home and taking a shower with this gel will reduce that hot sensation on skin. No wonder it felt so cool, it contains menthol. Love the shower gel that feels cool even after I rinsed. 

Need more cooling sensation? Apply the soothing body gel. As the name stated, it is very soothing. The gel texture is not that thick, so it’s easily applied and absorbed without stickiness. This is great also when you’re baking yourself under the sun and found your skin burning in red. If they are, apply this gel in soft tap, don’t rub. The menthol will sooth your skin immediately. 

I’d love to use this range when (only God knows) I’m going on my beach vacation. But in the meanwhile, this range will gives me strong protection against sun damage in this crazy city I live in and keep my skin feels cool after all my daily activities.

THERE’S A STORY IN EVERY EYES

I can’t go out without my eyeliner. Enough said.

Having big and droopy eyes type, I am comfortable with feline flick aka cat eyes liner. Classic yet tricky technique, some might said. But after lots of years pulling them on, well I can say I’m pretty darn good at this thing. Beside my favorite gel liner, REVLON ColorStay Eye Liner is one of my favorite too. As it claimed, it did stay long and I love how intense their colors are. I always go for black for daily makeup look, but check out these new colors REVLON just launched in Indonesia.

New shades are: Sapphire, Jade, Amethyst, Gold and Silver.

They also have this new liquid liner, called ColorStay Skinny Liquid Liner.

As the name stated, the brush is really skinny. Very fine with 0.1 mm for that perfect skinny look. Same like the pencils, they are waterproof and long lasting. There are 7 shades available: Blackout, Black Brown, Electric Blue, Green Spark, Amethyst, Gold and Silver. Cost more expensive than the pencil type (Rp 99.000 each while the pencil cost Rp 75.000 each), I found this skinny liner great to apply after fake lashes application. Not to mention, they’re also great for that flick!

Check out the swatches I’ve made on the back on my hand (I’ll update once I put them on my eyes).

The thicker ones is the pencil (Sapphire), and the thinner one is the skinny liner (Electric Blue). The pencil ones was more greenish than the skinny liner.

The Silver ones are quite intense with shimmer, thought the pencil ones was more intense than the liquid ones. Perfect for party look.

Hmmm….purple eyeliner. What do you think? Amethyst is such a pretty color.

I have no argument for their Black Eyeliner (pencil form), but judging from the swatch of the Gold Liquid Liner, it wasn’t as intense as the other colors, but as shimmery as the Silver ones.

TIME TO WEAR THOSE MINI AND SUMMER DRESS!

Not so confident of wearing one, thanks to that ugly dark shadows on your armpits and knees? Well, afraid not as SATTO comes with range of body care products to tackle this beauty situation.

Not a new brand in Indonesia, SATTO has been around since 2009. This year, they sort of relaunch one of their star product “Whitening C-Scrub”. I was invited to SATTO’s event this week and given these hamper to try at home. Read on for the reviews. 

SATTO Hand & Body Whitening Goat Milk Triple Moisturizer: As the name stated, it contains goat milk extract. With white opaque creamy texture, it did brighten instantly. Need to apply sparingly and blend until fully absorbed, or it might left a white powdery stain on your skin. Scent might be overpowering once applied, but toned down after a few minutes into a more subtle fresh scent. No worries, there are no goat milk scent or so whatever. Use this after scrubbing for maximal result.

SATTO Body Scrub Enriched With Orange Whitening: Refreshing orange scent, which I love. Not to opaque as the hand & body moisturizer, with soft and tiny granules. Recommended to use while showering, scrub in circular motions and rinse thoroughly. Unlike C-Scrub which targeted for dark parts of our body, I use this all-over. Result: brightening effects and moist skin.

SATTO Hair Tonic Serum: Liquid, dark brown color hair tonic. Very strong ginseng scent, I might say. But those ginseng (supposedly) will make our hair stronger, softer and shinier. Not only ginseng, it contains aloe vera and vitamin E too. Haven’t got the chance to try this yet, but I’ll update this review as soon as I tried this. Recommended to use after shampooing while massaging it slowly to the scalp to get maximal result.

Last but definitely not least, SATTO Whitening C-Scrub: Super effective to minimise the appearance of dark shadows on that specific parts of our body (read: armpits, bikini lines, knees, elbows). Similar granules texture like the Orange Scrub, but C-Scrub is more opaque (see pics below for textures). Make sure you scrub evenly while showering and do not miss a single dark spot. Since there’s no way I’m going to exposed my armpits pics here (LOL), I decided to try on my knees. See the before-after pics below.

I know, right? You can tell from the before picture on the left, my knees look dark. And after scrubbing with C-Scrub, voila! It turned brighter and whiter, I’m so impressed with this body scrub, really! Turned out, SATTO Whitening C-Scrub proclaimed itself as the first and the best scrub in Indonesia, made exclusively for sensitive and moist areas. So yes, after my experience with my whole knees and legs, I’m gonna go for those more ‘sensitive’ parts and put on my bikinis afterward. Here comes summer!!!!

Indeed! Check out the largest range of eyeshadows from MAKE UP FOR EVER, ARTIST SHADOW.

Too much of eyeshadows? Never. As a fellow beauty junkie, you’d agree with me. In Indonesia, they carry 175 shades out of the original 210 that Dany Sanz created to sort of celebrate Make Up For Ever 30th anniversary. Originally created by Dany in 1984, the first Artist Shadow range consists of 100 shades. Went up to 125 in 2013 and this year, 210. Keep in mind that Indonesia only carry 175 shades.

With 5 finishes: matte, satiny, iridescent, metallic and diamond, I am spoilt by choices. Oh dear, picking up shades and textures are just too hard for a girl! Then, another choice to be made, the palette. They have three choices, single palette, duo palette and trio palette at the same price (Rp 70.000 each). So, my suggestion, go for the trio ones. Oh by the way, the Artist Shadow costs Rp 220.000 each. 

After going back and forth to the display at their flagship store in Plaza Indonesia, Jakarta, I decided to fill my trio palette.

As you can see my numbers of choices are: M518 (Nude), S814 (Light Rosewood) and M626 (Neutral Brown). Yup, I decided to go for their matte and satiny textures out of 5 textures available and went neutral. No doubt about the intensity of their colour pigments and their textures are just heavenly smooth like velvet when applied.

Swatched on the back of my hand without primer and with one, can you spot the difference?

Not much of a difference in the intensity of the shades, right? The first swatch photo is the one without primer, and the last swatch photo is with primer. Usually my eyeshadows shades will pop out more if I use eye primer, but Artist Shadow doesn’t need primer (well, if you want to make it stay longer, I still recommend to apply eye primer). 

It was fun to create this trio palette of Artist Shadow, although I admit it was darn hard to pick just three out of 175. I’m proud of my choices, very me and so wearable for everyday staples. I was thinking to use the middle shades on my palette (the rosewood ones) as a blush too. Check out the look harmonized on my face for a lazy Saturday. I love how matte they looked, and I did wear the rosewood shade as a blush.

MY NEW ADDICTION

I called this a lighter version of my HG foundation, MAC StudioFix.

With MAC’s exclusive Marine-Bright Formula and Super-Duo Charge Water, the foundation is not the only one on the range.

Yes, they’re all skin care with the latest in brightening technology in hand. The difference between the previous Lightful series and these is the potent addition of vitamin C. As you might already know, Vitamin C will boost that brightened effects on skin, resulting flawless look. Originally developed for Asian market, now they’re available globally with different packaging (previous one was dotty version, now they come in gradated silver holographic pattern). 

What’s missing in the counter is the Eye Cream, which was delayed (thanks to BPOM as always). But MAC Indonesia’s reassured it will come soon. But you can try others first, like their moisture cream, essence, softening lotion and cleanser. 

Being a huge fan of MAC StudioFix, I got my hands on their Foundation. What differs them? First, the packaging. It’s refillable. Yup, if you buy the foundation, it comes with the empty compact to house the foundation. Even though it’s more expensive: the compact costs Rp 160.000 and the foundation costs Rp 540.000 (compare to StudioFix which costs Rp 500.000 altogether), it’s all worth it!

Originally, I used NC 30 for my StudioFix, but they ran out of that shade (yes, already) for this Lightful C Foundation, so I try my luck with NC 25. Same like StudioFix, it’s very long wearing with medium to full coverage. It has different sponge though, thicker & double sided (so you can use this as a foundation or finishing powder, depends on which side of sponge you chose). 

Well, apparently I’ve found a new addiction. I feel this Lightful C Foundation works better on my oily skin. It stays matte longer than StudioFix, blends better, and feels lighter too. With crazy summer ahead, this will be my foundation arsenal for sure.

LOVE AT FIRST TINT

Welcoming the first ever tint in oil lip color on the beauty market, VOLUPTE TINT IN OIL from YSL. 

Described as a revolutionary lip color with a lip tint suspended in a deep conditioning oil, truly I was feeling a bit skeptical about this latest invention. I mean, mixing oil with color? Was that even possible? Will the color stick on the lips long enough before that licking temptation? Apparently, nothing is impossible. What you see is the infusion of color with four essential oils to be exact: apricot kernel, coriander fruit, jojoba seed and possiflora seed oil. Using Color Link Infuser technology, it enables the tint particles to dissolve homogenously in the precious oil emulsion.

Another surprising point I found out at their launching event this week at Galeries Lafayette, Jakarta, YSL Beauty Indonesia does carry the total 8 shades available. Priced at Rp 450.000 each, they come in a range of very light to subtly bright colors. If you’re too lazy to swatch, or disgusted to try the testers on the counter due to sanitary reason, just check out the Volupte Codes. Yup. they color matched the ring on the tube with the actual shades inside. IMHO, these are not for those who love intense color on their lips. Nor for those who are looking for long lasting lip color. Their textures are very fluid but emollient enough, they won’t slide and making mess on the lips. Make sure you apply with the ‘Bouche A Bouche’ applicator for more precise & uniform application, though. 

I’ve got No 8 (Pink About Me) to try at home. It does look a bit purplish on the applicator, but once applied, it turned baby pink. Awesome! I love the way it turned my lips into a healthier looking one. That luminous shine is unbeatable, feel light on the lips…and believe it or not, it’s not sticky (actually it felt kind of balmy somehow). Now I know what they meant by “this tint will enhance the natural beauty of the lips”. It will look pretty on those who already born with those naturally pigmented lips. For those who are not so lucky, I recommend using their best pair, ROUGE VOLUPTE SHINE Lipstick beforehand. 

If you’re looking for more natural healthy glow result without looking too wet, try blotting with tissue. Blot once and you’ll get this similar but less wet look on your lips. This is a great alternative for those who got serious chapped looking lips while wearing those ultra-matte lipstick, or just bored with that one dimension stain. Don’t just buy my words, give this tint a try, and you’ll know how Volupte Tint in Oil will make your lips look prettier.
