YEAY! IT’S FACIAL TIME

It has been a while since I blog (sorry, just so busy) and had a facial. Big thanks to Sociolla and Menard, I had a chance to do their special facial treatment at the launch of AUTHENT MASK.

Before the facial, me and fellow press were having a gala dinner at Dian Ballroom, Raffles Hotel Jakarta. At the gala, Menard Expert from Japan, Mr. Yasuhiro Iwata explained about the latest sheet mask from Menard. Claimed to increase the number of epidermal and dermal stem cells, this mask is quite interesting.

They have two sheets in a box, one for face and one for neck. Yes, neck. Many of us (including me, oooppss) neglected….well…overlook the neck and decolletage area in our skincare regime. Apparently, Menard realised the importance of this matter, when they created this mask to celebrate their 55th anniversary.

Contains the same active ingredients as the Authent Cream (like bamboo fungus), they will help strengthen and encourage collagen production. These two sheets mask also smell wonderful, thanks to the sweet cherry seed extract used.

While they recommend to apply the Authent Cream (above pic) nightly, it only take 15 minutes once a week to wear Authent Mask. I wish they allow us to leave them more longer, but no. The mask is engineered to sit there only for 15 minutes or else the dry sheet will absorb the ingredients back from our skin. And of course, we didn’t want that to happen.

The whole experience was superb, yet educational because the therapist showed us the steps before applying the Authent Mask for maximal result.

The steps are quite long, but very enjoyable nevertheless: cleanse, tone, massage, scrub, mask. I love the massage, soft strokes yet powerful Shiatsu points that can help to improve blood and lymph flow, therefore improving nutrient flow to the skin. It felt so relaxing, I wish it was longer. LOL.

The therapist used Embellir Range for my face and Authent Cream & Mask as the final step. Yup, Authent Mask is supposed to be use on clean skin after face massage with Authent Cream, as night skin care. I recommend to use them while laying down, to keep the mask in tact. You’ll love the cool feeling and the neck mask actually feel tighten when applied correctly.

Check out the glow after the facial (pic above). My skin felt really dewy and plump after the facial. And the therapist said the glow will stay there for a week until the next usage of the mask. Oh wow! 

Authent Mask is already available on Menard stores, or for avid online shoppers like me, they sold it exclusively on Sociolla.

So I’m sharing them today.

I have a weak heart for matte lipsticks, so when I found out about these happening matte lipstick range from Indonesian (yes, this is local, people) beauty brand, I just have to get my lips on these shades. 

Don’t know when PURBASARI, the brand, famously known for their ‘lulur mandi’ aka body scrub launched this matte lipstick range. But boy, am I glad they did. They have 10 shades available and since they’re so affordable (Rp 32.000 a pop), I decided to buy them all. Yes, they have nude to bold shades. 

I just got them yesterday, and I can’t wait to show their swatches to you all, but I only manage to do two today, so bare with me. I promise to update their swatches on my instagram (@shintarosvita) throughout upcoming days.

Randomly, I picked #89 named JADE (pic above). Pink Coral shade, which reminds me of Anastasia Beverly Hills ‘Retro Coral’.

And the next one #83, named PIRUS (pic below). Mauve shade, which similar to LA Splash ‘Love Good’.

My thoughts?

  • Great textures (velvety feel) and easily applied. FYI, I didn’t use lip liner for pics above. 
  • What you see on the tube is exactly what you get on the lips (intense color, me like!)
  • It didn’t crack and last super long (but of course, need to reapply after a few drinks and eating session).
  • In terms of packaging, well it’s not fancy that’s for sure. But I appreciate Purbasari’s effort to make them as simple as possible. Not fancy but didn’t look like their price. 

My tips?

  • Make sure you twist the tube carefully, don’t push them too far as they’re slim and a bit fragile.
  • Moisture your lips first, then blot excess lip balm with dry tissue, before applying to ensure their matte look.
  • But if you do not have problem with dry cracked lips, just apply them straight from the tube to maximize their matte look. 
  • Want them to stay longer without exaggerate your lip lines? Instead of applying foundation on your lips before your lipstick, which might left them peeled later on due to dryness, try BB Cream. Seriously, I’ve personally tried this trick, and it worked like a charm. 
  • One swipe is enough, as they’re very intense. Make sure to blot.

Well, good luck of finding these matte lip colors, as they’re really hard to find (even they don’t provide any infos where to buy on their own website).

Set like a library, this is exactly what you’ll see if you go to their store in Paris (only smaller). Located at The Papilion Duo, Jakarta, you’ll find range of candles, fragrances, home fragrances and their latest skin & body care. 

Me and fellow press met Estelle Omnès, Diptyque’s Area Manager for Asia Pacific and she shared interesting facts about Diptyque.

  1. Diptyque’s founders: Christiane Gautrot, Desmond Knox-Leet and Yves Coueslant opened their first shop on 34 Boulevard Saint-Germain to display their artsy fabrics & wallpaper designs (the same wallpaper can be seen on this store!)
  2. Candles made them well known at first, but 7 years later, the very first fragrance was launched, L’Eau.
  3. Celebrating 50 years of anniversary, they launched 34, fragrance inspired by their first shop’s scent.
  4. Their best selling fragrance around the world is PHILOSYKOS. It was actually Greece words mean: Fig Tree. It smells wonderful, very fresh!

The interpretation of the portal which featured many ‘rooms’ comes to life in Senayan City, Jakarta, Indonesia.

Only until tomorrow (Sunday, September 20, 2015) you can actually browse through Hermès iconic scarf collections: La Maison des Carrés.

Last week, I was invited to their private event, and I wandered freely around the ‘house’. They did it in a mall where they actually don’t have Hermès store, and I was surprised to see how colorful and fun the showcase was.

Hermès tattoo? Yes, please.

MY HAIR JOURNEY WITH CG210 (PART ONE)

Yesterday, me and fellow beauty bloggers were invited to the launch of the very first haircare product from ABBOTT.

After 6 years of research, they finally launched the breakthrough solution for hair loss management. Named CG210, these spray-on lotion will help those who wish to reduce hair shedding, increase hair thickness, improve healthy hair & promote new healthy hair. Available for men (with mint scent) and women (with blackcurrant scent), CG210 is one breakthrough hair treatment. 

At the event in LOCANDA, Jakarta, they provided hair & scalp check.

Check out mine! Even though I just washed my hair the night before, it showed my very oily scalp. Fortunately, my hair follicles were quite good as one follicle have two and three hair shafts. 

Of course, I wouldn’t miss a chance to try CG210 on spot. Easy & practical to apply, just spray (5-10 sprays to cover entire scalp) & massage (not rub).

FACE SLIMMING

I was born with chubby cheeks. What can I say? But now, there are lots of beauty treatment out there to (at least) slim them down.

On a fine Saturday afternoon, I was invited to try CAVITATION & RADIO FREQUENCY treatment at The Clinic Indonesia. Cavitation is an alternative slimming method using ultrasonic to burn fat under our skin. And Radio Frequency or simply called RF is a therapy using radio frequency sonar to tighten sagging skin. 

So, here’s how the combination of both treatment goes:

First, the therapist will clean our skin.

Then, she’ll apply this clear blue gel

The first is Cavitation treatment, using this round flat metal gadget.

It produced a buzzing sound, if you feel irritated, tell the therapist to lower the level (the max is level 5, by the way).

For each cheek, it need 15 minutes of circling and pressing of the Cavitation tool. It can go right down to the chin, too. Perfect to lose that double chin as well. Don’t worry it didn’t produce any pain, it actually felt like facial massage. 

Before moving on to RF treatment, the therapist will remove the left-over gel using wet sponge.

Then, time for RF. Another gel applied, this time it’s clear white gel. 

The tool is different. 4 rollers which will be slightly warm during the treatment. 

The application process is the same. Each cheek needs 15 minutes of circling and pressing motion. Good thing, it didn’t produce any buzzing sound. It’s warm, if you can stand the heat, ask the therapist to heat it up. 

How did it go?

Obviously, the left one is the before pic. My skin felt tighter after the treatment and it did look brighter. 

“Many celebrities are a fan of this instant treatment,” said dr. Felya Sandra Pramita from The Clinic Indonesia. “Because it didn’t leave any mark like injection and you can see instant slimming result.”

MATTE, TAKE A BREAK!

After all that matte lipstick saga, it’s refreshing to be back to creamy moisturising lipstick, such as these. 

The latest lipstick collection from ULTIMA II was launched in collaboration with Grazia Indonesia Magazine last month. With fellow bloggers, we were introduced to 15 colors which are all perfect for Asian skin tone, from reds, pinks, corals & mauves. Rich in Vitamin C & E, they glides so easily on the lips, even if you forgot or just simply too lazy to put on lip balm. 

They sent me four shades to try: PLUM, FUCHSIA, SPICE & RASPBERRY.

They’re so creamy, but not sticky or shiny. Surprisingly they are quite long lasting, too. And the best part, they didn’t sit on those lines on the lips. So they did give the impression of young and healthy lips. One thing for sure, do use lip liner beforehand to make sure they stay in place, as creamy lipstick tend to go all over if not applied correctly. If you want a matter look out of these, just blot once. Have fun trying these new lipsticks!

PRACTICAL SUNSCREEN FOR CITY GIRLS

Don’t be a late bloomer when it comes to sunscreen. Using sunscreen to protect your skin may not make you prettier instantly, but they’re investment for the future. Use now or it may be too late.

Thanks to L’Oreal Paris Indonesia who invited me and fellow bloggers earlier this week to learn some new sun facts and their latest sunscreen product. According to research and dr. Amaranila Lalita Drijono Sp.KK, dermatologist that was the expert speaker on the L’Oreal Paris Indonesia launching event:

  • Indonesia reach number 10 from scale 1 to 11 on the UV Index.
  • UV rays A & B have different characteristic. UVB will blast their maximum ray from 10 AM – 2 PM, but can be absorbed by cloud, ozone layer and glass material. Meanwhile, the UVA is the opposite. They can go through cloud and glass. 
  • To protect our skin from UVA, search for broadspectrum sunscreen with PA +++ (minimal) and to protect our skin from UVB, we need SPF 30 (minimal). 
  • We need to reapply sunscreen every 5 hours during the daylight, for its’ effectiveness. 
  • Bad UV rays will cause premature aging, dry and dull skin, and last but not least dark spots.

Surprisingly, lots of us didn’t care of using sunscreen to protect our skin from the harsh UV rays. Which one are you? 

  1. “I’m an indoor person, I rarely go out under the sun, so why bother using one?”
  2. “I hate wearing sunscreen because it reminds me too much of the smell of pool and beach.”
  3. “I dislike the texture. It’s thick, sticky when applied and ruined my makeup.”

Well……you’ll be surprised when you try the UV Perfect range from L’Oreal Paris. They’re light, very easy to apply, didn’t leave any white effect and quickly absorbed. They even have the colored ones, purple tint for dull skin and pink tint for instant brightness.

Available in four varieties to be apply at the end of your skincare routine (after serum and moisturizer), from L-R: UV Perfect Advanced 12 H UV Protector Transparent, UV Perfect Instant White Advanced 12 H UV Protector, UV Perfect Advanced 12 H UV Protector Anti Dullness and UV Perfect Aqua Essence Advanced Watery Gel 12 H UV Protector. Make sure you choose the right first base of sunscreen according to your skin’s need at least before applying your makeup. Give them time to absorb on your skin, at least 30 minutes before you step out of the door every morning. 

As previously stated, sunscreen is recommended to be reapply in 5 hours. Seriously, do we have to do our makeup from zero? Of course NOT! Introducing the latest invention from L’Oreal Paris: UV Perfect Aqua Essence City UV Mist.

Way above the minimal requirements for daily need of sunscreen protection, with SPF 50+ and PA ++++, this is how a city girl like us supposed to retouch our sunscreen. No need to do makeup from zero in mid day (who has time to do this anyway?). Just SPRAY over your makeup. Yes! On top of makeup, as it won’t ruin anything, even my mascara and eyeliner. No need to pat, just make sure you shake the can bottle well before use, spray within the 15cm distance and spray evenly. 

As it’s dry transparent mist, it gave matte result with powdery scent and no white after effect. No stickiness involved, too. Just a perfect sunscreen touch up throughout the day.

MY FIRST EVER IN-OFFICE TEETH BLEACHING

Yes, you read this right. I never did professional teeth bleaching in my whole life. 

Well, I did the ‘at-home’ ones. But it was tacky and painful, I decided to stop my DIY teeth bleaching. Whatever, I thought…I was never born with ultra-white teeth anyway. Plus I’m an avid fans of colored drinks, coffee, tea, sodas, you name it. 

Before you read on, reader discretion advised, as this specific blog post contains graphic images of my whole mouth. LOL. I warned you.

Thanks to The Clinic | Beautylosophy Indonesia, for the opportunity to try their Bleaching service at their homey clinic.

As you might already knew, dental bleaching aka tooth whitening is a common procedure in cosmetic dentistry. Goal: to restore natural tooth color and helps remove stains. And actually, teeth naturally will darken as we age, especially if you’re an avid coffee/tea/colored drinks drinker like me. 

At The Clinic | Beautylosophy, drg. Ika Utami was the dentist who performed the Bleaching on me, and she was very helpful throughout the process (knowing that I almost had panic attack on the seat). 

The process itself could’ve take one hour in total (including scaling), but the dentist lessen it for 10 minutes, since I had trouble with the cheek retractor used (seriously, I felt like Hannibal Lechter). 

At this clinic, they use OPALESCENCE BOOST, a chemically activated power whitening gel, use for medical purpose only (don’t do this at home). As I wrote earlier, I got panic attack. So, instead of the 40 minutes suggested application, I got 30 minutes. Not bad for the first timer. The green one along the gum, is the resin barrier, used to protect the gum from the Opalescence Boost. The red one is the Opalescence Boost. The texture is like gel, and yeah I kept my mouth open like this for 30 minutes (it was air-dried, I suppose). 

After 30 minutes, the red gel was suck using the suction machine until totally clean.

Before bleaching, my teeth were coded C2 on the list shown above. And after the 30 minutes bleaching, they got lighter about 4 shades. NOT BAD!!! I can imagine if I didn’t have my panic attack and continued for another 10 minutes. But I’m already happy with the 4 shades lighter result. 

The dentist recommends to do Bleaching every once a year, and there are some restrictions afterward. No eating for an hour after Bleaching, reduce the consumption of colored drinks (oh dear,  to lessen the consumption of coffee will be hard for me), and brush your teeth regularly with specific brush and tooth paste for sensitive teeth. For those who are very sensitive, you might feel slightly pain on your teeth after this procedure. But nothing a pain killer can’t fix.

HAVE WE MISSED THIS STEP …

… on our makeup routine?

To tell you the truth, I’m not a big fan of skin primer. As a working mom, I need to do my makeup as fast as I can every morning, and adding this step would’ve mean adding another minutes to the routine. 

But…lately I felt my foundation easily slipped off in mid day, thanks to crazy summer heat in this concrete jungle of Jakarta. So, yeah I need something to help my makeup stay put for longer. 

Enter….MAKE UP FOR EVER STEP 1 SKIN EQUALIZER. In 11 variants. Yes, that much. So, there’s no way that I can’t find the one for my skin type and problems. 

Thanks to Make Up For Ever Indonesia, I got two primers to try: SMOOTHING PRIMER & RADIANT PRIMER in BLUE. 

If you have dry patches and fine lines, SMOOTHING PRIMER is the one for you. Slightly tinted in a flesh tone colour, it did blend well without looking ashy on my fair skin tone. 

The smooth texture will help to fill those fine lines. It felt balmy when applied and looked matte yet poreless. 

On top of the Smoothing Primer, I applied Radiant Primer to color correct. Since my skin tone is fair and easily turns to red when the sun is blazing, the Blue color is just right!

Yup, it’s light blue. But don’t worry, once applied and blended, skin will look fresher.

I applied Smoothing Primer first, then on top I applied the Blue Radiant Primer. I didn’t put any foundation, concealer, nor powder on above pic, so you can see the true result of these two primers. I was quite surprised. Imperfections blurred before I got to concealer and foundation. So I decided to ditch the foundation, concealer & powder at once after I took the above pic, how time saving was that?

The idea of having 11 choices is great too. I mean, our skin condition are changing most of the time, so who might know that my super oily skin will need Nourishing Primer next? And the idea of mix and match is just too fun to be missed. Anyway, makeup is supposed to be fun, right?
