How to do your own Hammam body care ritual at your own bathroom.

This week, I was invited to experience the latest body care range from The Body Shop, WILD ARGAN OIL. Inspired by the Hammam Body Care Ritual (wildly known as The Turkish Bath), they divided the total 10 available products into 3 wide categories: Bathing, Moisturising & Final Touch.

This range was infused with Community Fair Trade Wild Argan Oil from Morocco. What’s so special about the this organic argan oil? Reportedly, the oil was extracted from the best argan nuts which were hand-cracked by Berber women. Then, the kernels are pressed & filtered slowly over 48 hours to extract the purest oil possible and delivered the most sublime radiance for our skin.

Having a really dry body skin, I’m quite picky and careful when it comes to choosing body care products. And let me tell you, this range is perfect for those who have extra dry skin who long for that golden glow and skin radiance (think J-Lo’s bronzed skin). My treatment that day started with exfoliation, using “Wild Argan Oil” Rough Scrub. Don’t be intimidated by the word ‘rough’ as the texture is not as stated. I thought the granules were from sugar, but apparently they’re argan shell. With gel texture, the spa therapist applied it on my dry skin and instantly my skin felt softer & smoother.

After I showered to rinse the exfoliator, the spa therapist recommended me to mix “The Radiant Oil For Body & Hair” (in a spray bottle packaging) and “Wild Argan Oil Body Butter” for body massage, because my body skin was so dry. I love how the combination felt on my skin, buttery yet velvety.

After body massage, I sank into a bath full of bubbles from “Wild Argan Oil Bubbling Bath”. I was recommended to stay in for 15 minutes, to make sure my extra dry skin got the perfect hydration. And for the final touch, I applied “Wild Argan Oil Body Lotion” allover and the latest “Wild Argan Oil Miracle Solid Oil for Body & Hair” on my (also) dry hair. I love this new innovation from The Body Shop. Placed in a tin can, this multi-purpose solid oil came in a balmy texture that surprisingly not sticky. Yet, it glides beautifully when I rubbed it on my hair end, and also on my elbows & knees. Put on a small amount to avoid looking greasy, though. And I believe this work wonder on cuticles too!

The WILD ARGAN Oil range already available in The Body Shop Indonesia’s stores and an insider told me they just displayed it for about a week and they’re flying off the shelves! Great news, this range will be a permanent body care collection. For more about the products and to shop them online, click here

JUST LIKE EDELWEISS

Small and white, clean & bright. This well-known mountain flower is the active ingredient for the latest eye care product from THE BODY SHOP, DROPS OF YOUTH EYE CONCENTRATE.

Yesterday, me, fellow bloggers and medias were invited to the launch at Hotel Mulia, Jakarta. To refresh our memories, Drops of Youth was actually a part of Nutriganics skincare series which was launched back in 2012. Remember their Drops of Youth Concentrate? Apparently, this face serum which carried the plant stem cells technology from rare Criste Marine is doing very well, The Body Shop decided to create a whole skincare range, Drops of Youth.

Instead of Criste Marine, Drops of Youth Eye Concentrate enriched with Edelweiss plant stem cells from the Alps and Community Fair Trade Babassu Oil from Brazil. As edelweiss plant stem cells possess renowned skin renewal properties, this unique and innovative eye concentrate will refresh the eye contour (including the lids), smoothes out the appearance of lines, bags & fatigue. Perfect for those who long for younger-looking eyes (read:me!).

It was great to be there at this launch event, as I got some serious knowledge from The Body Shop Indonesia and dermatologist dr. Amaranila Lalita Drijono, Sp.KK. Some of the important points that she shared were:

  • We should always differentiate skin care with eye care, as eye area are more sensitive. She said, a lot of women still use one same product for the whole face. What? Face cream for eyes? Hello???? I’ve used eye cream since I was 17.
  • The way we apply our beauty products is also important. Tugging, rubbing and those high pressure will age us faster. She said, maybe you’ve picked the right products but the way you applied them also counts.
  • Thank goodness for the technology, as we now lived in an era of Cosmeceutical, cosmetic products with biologically active ingredients to help us repair our skin problems. Imagine those days when skincare only delivered moisturizing properties.
  • Make sure your eye care product is not only dermatology tested, but also ophthalmology tested, as eye products will come close to the eyes (even entering them).

“Drops of Youth Eye Concentrate is ophthalmology tested,” said Ilya Kamelia, Training Manager & Skincare Expert from The Body Shop Indonesia. At the event, she also demonstrated on model how to apply it. Firstly use, you might need two to three pumps to deliver the concentrate on the roller ball (after the first use, one pump is enough). Then, roll in a figure of 8 motion around the eye area (not just under eyes, but also on the lids). Gently pat afterwards with your ring fingers to help the absorption. She recommends to apply before moisturizer or eye cream on a clean face. But if needed (let’s just say you stare on your computer all day), you can apply it on top of your makeup for instant eye refreshment. You can read the usage instructions from the packaging as well (see above pic).

Available throughout The Body Shop Indonesia’s stores since January 8, 2015 for Rp 439.000 with the rest of the Drops of Youth series (can’t wait to get my hands on them too). Oh yeah, you can also get them online, click here

SHARING HAS NEVER FELT SO GOOD

Last Saturday, The Body Shop Indonesia invited me and fellow bloggers to celebrate Christmas early.

Not just a typical Christmas party, it was sharing and playing time with the less fortunate children from Kampung Makassar & Kramat Jati community. With the theme ‘Make Wishes Come True’, we were expected to bring our own presents for the kids at the gifts exchange session. Each blogger was paired with one kid and mine was Putri. Her name is Putri Angelina and she’s the same age as my eldest son, 14 years old, which made it more heartbreaking for me.

We had sitting lunch together, and when it was served, Putri didn’t even touch her plate until I asked her to. It might be just an ordinary fish and chips for us, but I think she didn’t know what it was. I believed she was overwhelmed by her whole experience that day, visiting one of the most luxurious mall in Jakarta and having lunch in one of the most popular restaurant too. It was really heartbreaking just to think about it, and boy….looking down was truly good for the soul.

And thanks to The Body Shop Indonesia with their slogan ‘Volunteering is our DNA’, those kids (not just Putri) seemed to enjoy their unordinary Saturday. They had great lunch, sang along with Popzzle and got a Christmas gift from us, bloggers. I decided to give Putri the same Initial Necklace that I wore that day, something personal to remind us of that day. And look what I’ve got: a gift box filled with one of the range from The Body Shop Christmas 2014 Limited edition, “Glazed Apple”. I love the sweet and fresh scent of this all-new special edition. Keep an eye out for their seasonal body care range too, Vanila Brulee and Frosted Cranberry, now available in stores and online. This year, The Body Shop Indonesia teamed up with Wahana Visi Indonesia to send less fortunate children to school. So, for each gifts from The Body Shop Indonesia’s Top 10 Gift Ideas, you’ll donate Rp 5.000. For more about the Top 10 Gift Ideas, check out their facebook page, here

BEAUTY ON THE RUNWAY

The Body Shop Indonesia has been the official makeup sponsor of Jakarta Fashion Week since 2011. And this year, they collaborated with three local fashion brands, KLE, CottonInk Studio and Ardistia New York.

With a theme “Runway to Your Way”, I found this particular show as a very conceptual runway. Sitting there on the front row with The Body Shop Indonesia’s team, I can see why they chose the three local fashion brands mentioned above. Super wearable yet fashionable, not to mention…effortless. Just like the makeup from The Body Shop.

I love how the multimedia screen projected a very modern clip about the key products from The Body Shop which were used for each brand. For KLE who expressed her Spring Summer 2015 Collection in all white, their key products are InstaBlur and All In One Face Base. To support the CottonInk Studio collection who embraced the essence of confidence with effortlessness, they accentuated with strong eyeliner made possible by The Body Shop latest Smoky 2 in 1 Gel Liner. Last but not least, for Ardistia New York who played with strong lines and bold colors, Colour Crush Lipstick was the main focus of the whole makeup (especially with that wig who covered models eyes).

Congratulations for The Body Shop Indonesia’s team and their makeup artists who I believed work their hearts off backstage to support this year’s Jakarta Fashion Week. See you guys next year!
