REVIEW: MAYBELLINE NEW YORK COLOR SENSATIONAL LIP TINT

Yet, another proof that we all shall move on from matte lips and shine!

Thanks Sociolla for sending me these lip tint to be review.

Packaging wise, they’re like no other lip products I’ve seen. It’s sort of flattened
round tube with a neon-pink applicator.

Here’s how they look like on my lips

No 1 (Fruit Punch)

No 2 (Light Pink)

No 7 (Apricot)

No 8 (Berry)

They do shine sensationally, don’t you agree?

Infused with a water lock-in formula (contains 30% water), it provides all day
moisturization and that fresh watery sensation . Yes ladies, we can skip that
lip balm. I did.

How to use? Simple, really. Use the applicator wand provided and start at the
center of upper lip to the outer corners. Then finish by gliding the wand
across the entire bottom lip.

FINAL VERDICT: their consistency are quite thick for such things named Lip Tint. As
for pigmentation, they’re sheer but after I ate and drink, they stain like a
normal lip tint. Just remember not to blot in any case possible, as the tint
will be patchy. Always reapply (by reapply, I meant wipe them off before you
eat and reapply on dry clean lips after you ate). They do have this fruity
scent, but it didn’t bother me because the scent will disappear quickly. I do
like their applicator, it glides easily for the bottom lip, but need a steady
hand to do the upper one. Try to apply this quickly as it tends to get patchy
when dry.

REVIEW: GUERLAIN LA PETITE ROBE NOIRE DELICIOUSLY SHINY LIP COLOUR

Time to say au revoir to those matte lipsticks, it is 2017 people!

Thank heaven I am in the beauty business, as rapid changes intrigued me. I got bored easily, especially when it comes to makeup, so when new trends or products or brands come along, I am super excited beyond words.

Enter GUERLAIN LA PETITE ROBE NOIRE DELICIOUSLY SHINY LIP COLOUR. Thanks Guerlain Indonesia for sending me this lipstick to review.

First of all, the packaging. It is the resemblance of La Petite Robe Noire’s original perfume bottle. The transparent case allows us to catch a glimpse of the shade. As the name already stated, it does deliver shiny color. It comes with fruity and floral scent from La Petite Robe Noir Fragrance. At first, I am quite skeptical about this lipstick because of those two factors: shiny and fragrant, just because I am so used to matte and lightly scented lipsticks (which is so 2016 by the way).

Mine is #13 Leather Blazer. It is a plum shade with pearl pigments. If you see it did match my gel nails.

The fun part of this lipstick, it is very buildable. To create natural effect, just apply one coat.

Two layers for casual chic effect.

And….three for sophisticated glamorous effect. So it’s either sheer, bright or bold kind of look, only by using one lipstick.

Final Verdict: it is very creamy for a glossy lipstick. It creates those stain/glossy look without the feeling of stickiness. As for the staying power, well…it is a gloss so what do you expect? But at least it didn’t flake or crack. Let me remind you once again, that this lipstick is fragranced. And it lingers quite a while, so yeah if you’re not into fragranced lipstick, you won’t like this one. For IDR 440K a pop, it’s not cheap either, but at least it looks great on the vanity and when you apply it in public.

SIPHON COFFEE: FIRST IMPRESSION

When I received the invitation from The Papilion, little I know that I’ll try one of the trendiest coffee in the world.

This ain’t no ordinary KOPI TUBRUK, for sure. With special device named SIPHON, the barista will brew your coffee in front of you. So, how does it work? Check out my video post in my instagram (@shintarosvita). I tell you, it’s like watching a scientist doing science experiment :)

There are two glasses compartments, and the barista will fill the bottom one with hot water (approx. 90 degrees Celsius).

Then he’ll heat the bottom glass, vapor pressure forces the water to go up into
the upper glass.

Then coffee grounds went in (I tried the 60% Robusta and 40% Arabica which is not too bitter nor sour and perfect with strawberry shortcake as the pair).

After the barista stirred, the mixed coffee is pulled back down into the lower glass, via coffee filter which located on the bottom of the upper glass.

After a while, the bottom glass filled with filtered brewed coffee. The whole process took about 4 minutes.

Siphon coffee is popular in the United States and Japan, and The Papilion uses one of the most popular system used in cafes hail from Japan, HARIO. This unique method of coffee making will insures the finest cup of coffee by actually filtering the coffee and not destroying its original flavor. Don’t just take it from me, you gotta try it to believe it. You
too can enjoy this special coffee next week at Huize Van Wely at The Papilion.

REVIEW: GUERLAIN LINGERIE DE PEAU FOUNDATION

I can’t go out without my foundation. Yes, I am that insecure. If I have flawless skin, I’d go bare. Unfortunately I don’t. So yes, I am a foundation kind of girl.

Thanks Guerlain Indonesia for sending me their latest foundation to be review. GUERLAIN LINGERIE DE PEAU NATURAL PERFECTION SKIN-FUSION TEXTURE SPF20. If I’m not mistaken, they do have Lingerie De Peau before. So I believe this is the latest version with added technology and SPF.

In their origin, they carry 18 shades, but here in Indonesia, they have half of the shades which priced at Rp 895.000 each. With three undertones, Cool, Neutral and Warm, you’ll find your matching shades easily. My shade is 02W which is Light Warm.

Here’s how it look like, not blended and blended with fingers.

It is Guerlain, so it is pricey. But it’s worth every drop as I believe I have found my perfect shade and texture. You see, I’ve tried other brand’s silky foundation before (HG of many if you know what I mean), but the dewy result just turned me off. It went super oily by midday and foundation melt-off is just bad, real bad.

Different case with Guerlain Lingerie De Peau. Their latest invention, named Bio-Fusion micro mesh, weaves natural silk and linen fibres and knits them with stretch fibres with smoothing properties to form a feather light veil that sort of hugs the face and promises total lasting comfort. The result: airy texture that glides effortlessly. Especially if you
blend well with their foundation brush, the result will be very smooth and even. Your skin but much better, I might say.

Like putting on lingerie, it is a pleasure to apply this foundation. It’s not thick in consistency, nor watery. And the fact that it comes with a pump really help.

Very subtle fragrance, it doesn’t accentuate lines and gives that natural (not dewy but not matte either) look. I wore this with setting powder, but you can skip if you have dry skin.

Here’s how it looks like when freshly applied.

And…..5 hours later….after lots of coffee drinking on Friday night :)

Final verdict: I love how it blend easily, I applied with damp beauty blender and set with loose powder. I didn’t use concealer just for you guys to see that this foundation has light to medium coverage, so if you have things to hide, use concealer after foundation. It felt so light on the skin, like wearing literally nothing. I love the foundation, but remember to blot every two hours if you have super oily skin like mine.

REVIEW: L’ORÉAL INFALLIBLE LE ROUGE

It has been a lot of gloomy days right here in Jakarta, Indonesia. Raining non-stop and the weather is just bad. When gloomy days happened, personally I love to pop some brightness on my makeup routine. And the easiest is just put on that bright lips, pronto!

Good people at L’Oréal sent me a bunch of their latest Infallible range, and these lipsticks named LE ROUGE are just a few of them.

The packaging is slimmer than the standard lipsticks, but it’s definitely not a slim ones. Not as chubby, not as slim. Medium size, I might say.

They look matte on the tube, but once applied, they’re very creamy and shiny.

I believe L’Oréal steps up their lipstick game with these babies. The formula really delivers bold and vivid color on the lips. Plus they added vitamin E to keep lips moist and comfortable. One swipe is enough as the shade really popped out.

They claimed this to last up to 10 hours, but after drinking and eating they might slipped and need to reapply. I recommend to use lip liner beforehand, so they won’t bleed. And to protect furthermore, just blot after applying with a piece of tissue. At these swatches below, I didn’t use any lipliner and lip balm. Please mind my dry skin around the mouth area (if you noticed, LOL).

REFINED RUBY = bright fuchsia

RAVISHING RED = coralish red

PERSISTENT PLUM = dark plum, a bit vampish (my fave!)

NEW FROM ROLLOVER REACTION

This hip local beauty brand just launched their latest shade today.

ROLLOVER REACTION already had 8 permanent shades and 1 limited edition shade in their line. And this February (16 February to be exact), they will launch their latest shade in collaboration with Hellua (known as @thelipstickmafiaaa on instagram) and Pola Artistry who designed the product identity for the packaging. Just like their previous shades’ names which taken from the Beatles’ songs, this gleaming shade was named PENNY (taken from Penny Lanes).

It took more than 6 months for them to create Penny, from picking the right shade until the perfect visual for the packaging. As the previous shades, this is not just a lipstick, people! They’re all named SUEDED! Lip & Cheek Cream. So yeah, they can be use for lips, cheeks and eyes if you wish.

What differ Penny from the others in their existing line? If the others have velvet matte texture, Penny has a slightly different formula but the same scent. A new take on matte, indeed. It’s still matte, but with a touch of pearlescent glow. A bit metallic, I might say. Its’ rosy bronze shade really looks good on Hellua which has warm undertone (most Indonesians have this skin tone).

I’m a bit on the lighter side of skin tone (read: pale), so this is how Penny looks like on the back of my hand and on my lips.

Check out me and Hellua rocked Penny on the event today. I used Penny as the lip topper, and Hellua applied on top of SADDIE (one of the permanent shade from Rollover Reaction), and she also used Penny on her eyes & cheeks. She’s glowing, right?

Instead of the differences on how Penny will look like on different skin tone like most of the lipsticks out there, I believe this shade will look good on everyone. Unlike other metallic shades (most of them are International brands), Penny pops to the most subtle possible. It’s a very fresh version of metallic lipstick trend, perfect for those who want to highlight your pouts. Not just that (unless you’ve been living under a rock), metallic lids will be big this year. So yeah, play up your makeup game and wait for Penny to launch on Rollover Reaction’s website, here on February 16, 2017. Remember, Penny is a limited edition shade. If it’s gone, it’s gone!

Lucky me. Not just bringing home Penny with a special box, surprise…surprise I won the door prize from their sponsors today. Double score, indeed. LOL. Thanks Rollover Reaction for having me at your Penny Soiree today.

HI FROM MUMBAI

This early February 2017, I’ve got the chance to visit India for the second times.

Lots have happened in 2017 already, and it’s only February. I’ve had career switch and move office. Lucky me, I’ll be doing what I love the most. Yes, I have a new career in beauty business, people!

One day at new office, and I left to Mumbai for business trip. Between meetings and visiting LAKME FASHION WEEK (LFW) at Jio Garden, I’ve had a good time trying local food and did some sightseeing.

Here are some pics from my trip.

Trident BKC (stands for Bandra Kurla Complex) infinity swimming pool. Unfortunately, there were some constructions going on the building right in front of the pool. So yeah, no swimming for me.

My first show at LFW.

LFW Finale Show at Bandra Fort, when they transformed this old fort into a magical forest for Anita Dongre’s Summer/Resort 2017 Collection. Beautiful sets of dresses and tunics, indeed.

My first ever encounter with Bollywood’s famous actress, who’s also the Brand Ambassador for LAKME, Kareena Kapoor Khan (on the middle).

Me at The Taj Mahal Palace Hotel. Opened in 1903, almost most of the British Royals have stayed here. I can’t even imagine this beautiful historical building was attacked by terrorists back in 2008.

Local exotic food from a hipster restaurant named Soda Bottle Openerwala. Fusion food between Indian and Iranian food at their best.

Masala Pepsi. Yes, they put masala in everything. LOL.

Prawn Patio with Buns.

At St Regis Hotel

Overall trip was beyond my expectation, in good and bad terms. The good: weather was nice, actually kind of cold at night. Vintage buildings got me…like all the time! (see my instagram @shintarosvita).

The bad: the traffic. Coming from Jakarta where traffic was also bad, but the honking session in Mumbai is at another level. They seriously honk…a lot…. And for those who have Ornithophobia (fear of birds), I am warning you….birds are everywhere.

Tips: rent a car with driver, it’s safer to go around with windows closed at all times to protect yourself from beggars which sometimes appear and stuck their faces on the car’s window. Seriously, they need to do something with these beggars.

NEW LOCAL BRANDS: VOTRE PEAU & FÉRNANDO

I don’t know about you, but I always feel safe when I tried new skincare products that created by well-known dermatologist. I met dr. Kevin Maharis at one of the beauty event last year, and great to know that he and his brother, dr. Ricky (also a dermatologist) launched VOTRE PEAU & FÉRNANDO.

If you go to their website, you can see that currently they don’t have too many products yet. But from the look of the packaging (I love the illustration) and the quality of the products, I am pretty sure this local Indonesian brand will bloom soonest.

They sent me four products, two skincare and two liquid lipsticks to try.

VOTRE PEAU VITAMIN C SERUM

One of their best selling product, this serum is an anti-oxidant to be used before everything else. My first impression: a very nice non-sticky serum, easily absorbed and didn’t leave any strange glow or shimmer on skin. I love it already! Comes in pump bottle and thick gel texture. The grapefruit scent is not over-powering, and I can’t wait to see my skin getting better using this. They claimed it can reduce the appearance of dark-circles under the eyes area, too. I’ll update you guys on this matter.

VOTRE PEAU BRIGHTENING SPRAY SAKE ESSENCE

Yes, Sake. Apparently, sake contains kojic acid which will delay pigmentation and brighten the skin. They claimed that this is safe for sensitive skin and no side-effects, even if we use it several times daily. Comes in spray bottle and matte watery texture, this actually have no scent. First impression: very refreshing, and sprayed evenly. And like the serum, it didn’t leave any stickiness or any greasy feeling.

FÉRNANDO MATTE LIP CREAM

They sent me two shades to try: RUSSIAN ROULETTE & SPICE ROUTE. Love the glamorous packaging which reminds me a bit of KYLIE. First impression: when I swatched on my hand, they dried fast and I have to use cleansing oil to wipe them off. Long live longevity, indeed!

Russian Roulette is red coral-ish. It’s a very bold red, which I believe will be in this year. Bye bye nude!

Spice Route is a dark mauve. An everyday must-have if you’re not a big fan of red shades.

REVIEW: GAYA SPA WELLNESS, JAKARTA

Indonesians love Body Massage, me included.

Lucky us, spa treatment here is more affordable than the rest of the countries in the world I’ve visited in my life. And their treatments are much better, IMHO.

For us, Jakartans, just seating down in a car, (or worse) driving the car, can wreck havoc to our body, because of the darn traffic. So…yeah…we need spa treatment every weekend. And guess what? This specific spa treatment in GAYA SPA JAKARTA is recommended to do once a week. And it only took us 60 minutes to do so.

They do have lots of traditional massages, from Java to Sumatra and Sulawesi, but last week I went there to try their TRADITIONAL BODY MASSAGE TREATMENT: a deeper layer massage using thumbs and long strokes, which claimed to help release muscle tension and improve blood circulation.

When I entered the spa, it was really quiet, such a contrast with all the construction that happened outside (because it’s located on a really crowded street). SInce they’re using Spa Essentia products, we can see a whole array of the products on display.

My room which named Martup is the couple’s room, it was huge with a separate shower and bathtub.

First thing, foot bath with flowers and essential oil. Very relaxing first step before the body treatment.

My therapist, Lili used her gentle yet powerful strokes with warm essential oil for the massage which felt heavenly. After the treatment, she recommended not to take a bath at least an hour after the treatment, because my pores were open due to the massage. She offered warm towel wipes, but I decided to let it be and went around afterwards with massage oil on my skin LOL. Luckily, it didn’t feel as sticky as I thought.

After the treatment was done, the therapist brought your choice of hot drink to the room. I opted for their ginger tea which tasted really good.

This is a nice place to visit for traditional spa treatments, the ambience supported the feel and the whole treatment was heavenly. I’ll be back for sure to try their other treatments.

Remember to call first before your treatment to do reservation. Visit their website here for more infos.
