REVIEW: MAYBELLINE NEW YORK COLOR SENSATIONAL LIP TINT

Yet, another proof that we all shall move on from matte lips and shine!

Thanks Sociolla for sending me these lip tint to be review.

Packaging wise, they’re like no other lip products I’ve seen. It’s sort of flattened
round tube with a neon-pink applicator.

Here’s how they look like on my lips

No 1 (Fruit Punch)

No 2 (Light Pink)

No 7 (Apricot)

No 8 (Berry)

They do shine sensationally, don’t you agree?

Infused with a water lock-in formula (contains 30% water), it provides all day
moisturization and that fresh watery sensation . Yes ladies, we can skip that
lip balm. I did.

How to use? Simple, really. Use the applicator wand provided and start at the
center of upper lip to the outer corners. Then finish by gliding the wand
across the entire bottom lip.

FINAL VERDICT: their consistency are quite thick for such things named Lip Tint. As
for pigmentation, they’re sheer but after I ate and drink, they stain like a
normal lip tint. Just remember not to blot in any case possible, as the tint
will be patchy. Always reapply (by reapply, I meant wipe them off before you
eat and reapply on dry clean lips after you ate). They do have this fruity
scent, but it didn’t bother me because the scent will disappear quickly. I do
like their applicator, it glides easily for the bottom lip, but need a steady
hand to do the upper one. Try to apply this quickly as it tends to get patchy
when dry.

REVIEW: GUERLAIN LA PETITE ROBE NOIRE DELICIOUSLY SHINY LIP COLOUR

Time to say au revoir to those matte lipsticks, it is 2017 people!

Thank heaven I am in the beauty business, as rapid changes intrigued me. I got bored easily, especially when it comes to makeup, so when new trends or products or brands come along, I am super excited beyond words.

Enter GUERLAIN LA PETITE ROBE NOIRE DELICIOUSLY SHINY LIP COLOUR. Thanks Guerlain Indonesia for sending me this lipstick to review.

First of all, the packaging. It is the resemblance of La Petite Robe Noire’s original perfume bottle. The transparent case allows us to catch a glimpse of the shade. As the name already stated, it does deliver shiny color. It comes with fruity and floral scent from La Petite Robe Noir Fragrance. At first, I am quite skeptical about this lipstick because of those two factors: shiny and fragrant, just because I am so used to matte and lightly scented lipsticks (which is so 2016 by the way).

Mine is #13 Leather Blazer. It is a plum shade with pearl pigments. If you see it did match my gel nails.

The fun part of this lipstick, it is very buildable. To create natural effect, just apply one coat.

Two layers for casual chic effect.

And….three for sophisticated glamorous effect. So it’s either sheer, bright or bold kind of look, only by using one lipstick.

Final Verdict: it is very creamy for a glossy lipstick. It creates those stain/glossy look without the feeling of stickiness. As for the staying power, well…it is a gloss so what do you expect? But at least it didn’t flake or crack. Let me remind you once again, that this lipstick is fragranced. And it lingers quite a while, so yeah if you’re not into fragranced lipstick, you won’t like this one. For IDR 440K a pop, it’s not cheap either, but at least it looks great on the vanity and when you apply it in public.

NEW FROM ROLLOVER REACTION

This hip local beauty brand just launched their latest shade today.

ROLLOVER REACTION already had 8 permanent shades and 1 limited edition shade in their line. And this February (16 February to be exact), they will launch their latest shade in collaboration with Hellua (known as @thelipstickmafiaaa on instagram) and Pola Artistry who designed the product identity for the packaging. Just like their previous shades’ names which taken from the Beatles’ songs, this gleaming shade was named PENNY (taken from Penny Lanes).

It took more than 6 months for them to create Penny, from picking the right shade until the perfect visual for the packaging. As the previous shades, this is not just a lipstick, people! They’re all named SUEDED! Lip & Cheek Cream. So yeah, they can be use for lips, cheeks and eyes if you wish.

What differ Penny from the others in their existing line? If the others have velvet matte texture, Penny has a slightly different formula but the same scent. A new take on matte, indeed. It’s still matte, but with a touch of pearlescent glow. A bit metallic, I might say. Its’ rosy bronze shade really looks good on Hellua which has warm undertone (most Indonesians have this skin tone).

I’m a bit on the lighter side of skin tone (read: pale), so this is how Penny looks like on the back of my hand and on my lips.

Check out me and Hellua rocked Penny on the event today. I used Penny as the lip topper, and Hellua applied on top of SADDIE (one of the permanent shade from Rollover Reaction), and she also used Penny on her eyes & cheeks. She’s glowing, right?

Instead of the differences on how Penny will look like on different skin tone like most of the lipsticks out there, I believe this shade will look good on everyone. Unlike other metallic shades (most of them are International brands), Penny pops to the most subtle possible. It’s a very fresh version of metallic lipstick trend, perfect for those who want to highlight your pouts. Not just that (unless you’ve been living under a rock), metallic lids will be big this year. So yeah, play up your makeup game and wait for Penny to launch on Rollover Reaction’s website, here on February 16, 2017. Remember, Penny is a limited edition shade. If it’s gone, it’s gone!

Lucky me. Not just bringing home Penny with a special box, surprise…surprise I won the door prize from their sponsors today. Double score, indeed. LOL. Thanks Rollover Reaction for having me at your Penny Soiree today.

WHY I LOVE KYLIE LIP KIT?

It took me awhile to buy this super famous lipstick from Kylie Jenner.

Why? Because online shipping from KylieCosmetics.com is surely not available to ship to Indonesia where I live. But then if they can do it, the tax will be absurd..more than the price of the kit itself. And….the online shops here are charging us cray cray. Some sold them for almost IDR700K per kit (while it cost only USD$29 online on KylieCosmetics). It almost doubled the original price when converted to our currency.

So I decided to wait until the whole hype is cooling down, with the hope that the price will decrease. And they did! So I bought CANDY K LIP KIT for IDR600K (including shipping-not bad) from my regular online shop here in Indonesia.

I picked this shade because I believe I haven’t had this colour in my collection. After the unboxing video happened, first thing first…the scent. The liquid lipstick does have a quite strong scent..like vanilla/butterscotch scent. But the scent won’t stay there forever after applied. The texture is quite liquidy but after applied, it turned matte shortly. The wand is long, so it does make applying session more easy and picked up the liquid in enough portion for one use. I believe one layer is enough, as if you piled it up it might get cracky.

Have to admit…I looovvveee the lip liner. It is very opaque in texture but not drying at all. I never attempt to fill the whole lips with the pencil though, but for lining…it is the champion so far! Minus factor: this ain’t no automatic ones, so have to sharpen manually.

Don’t you think this shade looks very photogenic? I love how it felt on my lips..it’s not super drying (you still need to moisturise before applying this), and somehow I believe my lips look plumper and bigger when I use this. Still far from Kylie’s though..LOL.

As for the longevity…it might slipped off if you eat oily foods (especially on inner lips), but it won’t transfer on a cup when you drink. Touch up is needed, but do make sure you wipe the whole thing off before, as it might get tacky if you applied on top of the previous one.

Final verdict: come to think of it, the quality comes with the price. Since they come in pair (lip liner and liquid lipstick), somehow it sounds affordable for this super hype brand. Anyway, high end lipsticks can go way beyond for just the lipstick itself. But my suggestion for all Indonesians who want to buy this online in Indonesia..don’t pay more than IDR600K.

PINK IS NOT JUST A COLOR …

…. it’s an attitude!

As a firm believer of that quotes and as a person who literally dressed in monochrome almost every single day, I’m still a girl who believe in the power of pink. I do have a pink bag and of course, pink lipsticks.

Earlier this week, me and fellow bloggers were invited by L’Oréal Paris Indonesia for the launch of their latest lipstick collection, COLOR RICHE LA VIE EN ROSE. At the same event, they also introduced their latest Brand Ambassador, Maudy Ayunda. At only 21 years old, she scored one of her dreams to become L’Oréal Paris Brand Ambassador.

This year, L’Oréal Paris will focus on makeup, other than skincare or haircare and they’ll name it MAKEUP DESIGNER. It’s great to know that they will make this brand accessible to customers, not professional makeup artist. Yup, they will encourage normal people like us to be our own makeup designer, because we know our face better than everyone else.

Sharing you the pics from the event.

Me and Maudy dressed up like Parisians.

They pinkified the venue.

Back to the lipstick collection….here in Indonesia, they only bring 6 out of 12 shades. They chose only the pink that most suitable for Indonesians skin tone, so the pinks won’t be too pale on our mostly yellowish skin tone. And these 6 shades were inspired by L’Oréal Paris Ambassadors, Blake Lively, Eva Longoria, Liya Kebede, Jennifer Lopez, Doutzen Kroes and Aishwarya Rai.

Last but not least, the swatch!

From left to right: Jlo (Rose Lotus), Eva (Nymphea), Doutzen (Camelia), Aishwarya (Iris), Liya (Fuchsia) and Blake (Primrose).

Matte finish with no dry feeling. That’s what I thought about these lovely pink shades. Unlike some matte finish lipstick, these felt velvety when applied and didn’t give me that one dimensional flat look. By the end of the day, they won’t cracked. Like most lipstick, the shades might vary on different skin tone. So I really suggest to try them on yourself, instead of just judging from the swatch.

My favorite out of 6 shades? Eva Longoria’s Nymphea. Peachy pink with slightly yellow-ish pigment, perfect to complement my warm skin undertone. I believe it made my face look brighter when I wore it. Check my instagram @shintarosvita to see each swatch on my lips.

To find complete shades of L’Oréal Paris Color Riche LA VIE EN ROSE, (if you live in Jakarta), visit their counters at Matahari Department Store at Cilandak Town Square, Pejaten Village or Mall Taman Anggrek. Go find your perfect pink!

GOOD NEWS ARE MEANT TO BE SHARE

image

So I’m sharing them today.

I have a weak heart for matte lipsticks, so when I found out about these happening matte lipstick range from Indonesian (yes, this is local, people) beauty brand, I just have to get my lips on these shades.

Don’t know when PURBASARI, the brand, famously known for their ‘lulur mandi’ aka body scrub launched this matte lipstick range. But boy, am I glad they did. They have 10 shades available and since they’re so affordable (Rp 32.000 a pop), I decided to buy them all. Yes, they have nude to bold shades.

I just got them yesterday, and I can’t wait to show their swatches to you all, but I only manage to do two today, so bare with me. I promise to update their swatches on my instagram (@shintarosvita) throughout upcoming days.

Randomly, I picked #89 named JADE (pic above). Pink Coral shade, which reminds me of Anastasia Beverly Hills ‘Retro Coral’.

And the next one #83, named PIRUS (pic below). Mauve shade, which similar to LA Splash ‘Love Good’.

My thoughts?

  • Great textures (velvety feel) and easily applied. FYI, I didn’t use lip liner for pics above.
  • What you see on the tube is exactly what you get on the lips (intense color, me like!)
  • It didn’t crack and last super long (but of course, need to reapply after a few drinks and eating session).
  • In terms of packaging, well it’s not fancy that’s for sure. But I appreciate Purbasari’s effort to make them as simple as possible. Not fancy but didn’t look like their price.

My tips?

  • Make sure you twist the tube carefully, don’t push them too far as they’re slim and a bit fragile.
  • Moisture your lips first, then blot excess lip balm with dry tissue, before applying to ensure their matte look.
  • But if you do not have problem with dry cracked lips, just apply them straight from the tube to maximize their matte look.
  • Want them to stay longer without exaggerate your lip lines? Instead of applying foundation on your lips before your lipstick, which might left them peeled later on due to dryness, try BB Cream. Seriously, I’ve personally tried this trick, and it worked like a charm.
  • One swipe is enough, as they’re very intense. Make sure to blot.

Well, good luck of finding these matte lip colors, as they’re really hard to find (even they don’t provide any infos where to buy on their own website).
