YES, A WOMAN CAN HAVE IT ALL …

Head to toe Chanel, a gorgeous husband and a cute kid. 

At least, according to Karl Lagerfeld. Chanel’s Spring 2013 campaign video (directed by Karl himself), entitled “Public Garden” was shot in black and white a la silent movie. Set in Musée Rodin in Paris, France, Lindsey Wixson starred with the ever handsome Brad Kroening as someone else’s husband. The cute kid, is Karl’s godson, Hudson Kroening, wearing a matching Choupette sweatshirt and tee. Oooohhhh…..

YOU CAN STAND UNDER THIS UMBRELLA

Now that it’s raining more than ever…

Know that we’ll still have our umbrella. But not just a typical umbrella to make you shine on the rainy days. These cute and fancy ella ella ay ay ay… (hello Rihanna), will be our best friend through this wet season.

DON’T SWEAT YOUR SWEATPANTS

Don’t you just love the comfortable feeling of wearing a pair?

Making their way out of the gym, this is how you can dress up your sweatpants. Looking chic yet comfortable, check!

–       Sloppy is definitely out of the context. Pick a thicker cotton material for the sweatpants, but definitely not terry. And no sport brand’s logo please.

–       Ribbed legs, slim cut at the calf, will make the sweatpants look more awesome with killer heels.

–       Opt for loose top. Tunics will be a great choice as it looks more fluid and womanly.

–       Do the color vice versa. Light colored sweat pants, darker top OR the other way around.

–       Stay out of canvas bag. Pronto. Sharper looking bag is a must. 

–       As for jewelry, don’t overdo it. Just one cuff or bracelet will do.

–       Shoes? No flats, please. Oh, and leave that gym shoes where they belong. 

HERE KITTY KITTY

A new updated version of cat-eyes sunglasses.

IMHO, they really never go out of style. From the 1950’s, superstars like Audrey Hepburn and Grace Kelly have been spotted with one. Up till now, this feline-inspired frames are still favorite among the fab and gorgeous, like Nicole Richie and Dita von Teese.

Well, nowadays, they evolved to a more contemporary style. Check out these super fab cat-eyes sunglasses from one of my favorite brand, Linda Farrow. This London based luxury eyewear brand collaborated with Alexander Wang, Agent Provocateur and Charlotte Olympia (to name a few), to bring us many choices of modern version cat-eyes sunglasses. MOISTURIZING DENIM? SERIOUSLY?

Don’t be fooled by the casual shot by Lizzie Jagger above. It’s not what you think it is.

The daughter of Mick Jagger teamed up with Wrangler for the brand’s new line, named Denim Spa. The latest invention and very innovative denim from the brand that exists since 1947, indeed. How do this jeans work, really? Reportedly, the jeans are sprayed with cosmetic microcapsules of moisturizing treatment during manufacture, then heated to bind to the denim fibre, to make sure a slow release of the product even when it have been washed. The friction of the skin against the tiny microcapsules will slowly breaks them down, making it an even application while used.

Surely not our typical denim wash, there’ll be three hydrating finishes to choose from. Smooth Legs for anti-cellulite, Olive Extract for moisturizing and Aloe Vera for sensitive skin. Can we skip our body lotion instead and just slip these on?

BLAME IT ON THE RAIN

Time to rock those pretty warmies.

It’s officially rainy season in my hometown, Jakarta, Indonesia. And for us who live almost 365 days of summer, it’s time to pull out those warmies from the bottom of our clothes rack. Especially for those who work indoor, somehow the AC seems to be colder than ever. 

But don’t just stick to plain old blazers *yawn. Be more creative to bring more cheerful feeling instead of being cloudy just like the weather outside. These are my top 5 warmies from the high streets brands:

1. Zara leather coat 

2. Gap prints sweater

3. H&M knit cardigan 

4. Topshop prints biker jacket

5. Mango lace jacket

IS IT POSSIBLE TO WEAR OVERALLS NOW?

Why not? The old school style is making a big come back this spring.

From Jason Wu to Philip Lim, grown up overalls are in. Come in materials like linen and leather, it’ll be a refreshing urbane look for this Spring. But how we (as adults) can pull off this look?

Here’s some tips:

–       Slim cuts are the best option. You don’t want to look sloppy wearing a big and oversize overall.

–       Instead of just denim, opt for materials like linen or leather. For more casual days, you can pick darker denim.

–       Play with texture and materials for layering. Instead of plain old T-shirt, look for blouses with more grown-up materials, like lace or chiffon.

–       To complete the whole look, add sharp looking accessories like clutch, shoes and earrings.

–       A smart looking and simply cut blazer will be a perfect companion if you want to rock this look for your office attire. 

OTHER THAN H&M?

H&M will be having a new more luxurious line called “& Other Stories”. 

Spring 2013, seven stores in London, Barcelona, Berlin, Copenhagen, Milan, Paris and Stockholm will be open. Offering women’s shoes, bags, accessories, beauty products and ready to wear created by their ateliers in Paris and Stockholm, they will have online boutique (soon) as well. Said to bring a more diverse collection from masculine tailoring to feminine chic, I wonder how expensive they’ll be comparing to C.O.S (another brand by H&M Group).

WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR NEXT FEBRUARY? 

Me? I’m waiting for another fashion collaboration.

It’s Prabal Gurung + Target. Below US$200, complete with accessories like bags, minaudieres, shoes, cuffs and necklaces, I am more than excited. Another wallet friendly fashion collaboration is always interesting, and I bet these fun and flirty collection will sold out in a day, when they launched (in Target of course) on February 10, 2013.

What can you expect from the 80+ collection? His signature digital floral prints, for sure. While I  personally love the pointy printed flats and the minaudiere, check out my other favorite looks from the collection.

1 T-SHIRT TWO WAYS

Who said you can’t wear T-shirt to the office?

Unless you’re forbidden to wear one by your boss, go for it!

Consider yourself lucky if you are actually allowed to wear casual clothing to the office. But, how casual is casual and how to look still representable by wearing your favorite T-shirt? Again, this is the power of mix and match.

Tips for Office Outfit:

–       Casual is NOT careless. Don’t wear your old T-shirt that you use for sleeping attire. Go for more textured T-shirt (like the picture above), preferably in lace. Never mind the statement words on it, as long as they are not rude or bad words.

–       Outerwear is a must. This is not the right time for your T-shirt to appear solo. However, you might need a more relaxed jacket to be its’ companion. Forget your formal blazer.

–       Pencil skirt is better than any other skirt, as it looks more representable. To add more fun, use the printed one instead of just old boring black pencil skirt *yawn.

–       Pick a structured bag to appear more formal when you do have to go out and meet some clients.

–       Last but not least: the right shoes. Never ever use flats with pencil skirt. They are not match made in fashion heaven. Black ankle boots are always the safe and the best option.

You still need tips for Mall Outfit?

–       Denim jacket is never wrong. You can wear it with everything and add coolness to the whole attire, even on your most casual days.

–       A more laid back bag is a must have for mall outfit. You can’t go wrong with a bucket bag.

–       Skinny printed pants will give the impression of longer legs, especially if you will wear your …

–       Flats. Seriously, I feel sorry for them who (intentionally) wear high heels to the mall. Strut your stuff somewhere else, babes, as mall is NOT a runway. Even models wear sneakers on their off day.
