FOR YOUR EYE (LID) ONLY

image

Makeup melting in the middle of the day is not something unusual in this city I live in. That’s why primer is one of my must have, including this latest product from BENEFIT, AIR PATROL.

Unlike any other eyeshadow primer I’ve tried, this ain’t no ordinary primer or base. Air Patrol is a BB Cream Eyelid Primer that color corrects while protect with broad spectrum SPF 20. Literally one shades fit all, this eyelid primer will guard our delicate eyelid area from sun, smoke & pollutants. So, yes…it color corrects and make our eyeshadows stay longer with the help of their special tip.

They called the tip, CushionCalm. At the launching party earlier this month, Benefit Indonesia team showed us how soft yet strong the CushionCalm tip is. Inspired by mattress, no matter how hard we press them, it will go back to its’ natural shape.

Claimed to be softer than our own pinkie, it’s also pressure-free..therefore it’ll protect our delicate eyelid from that rubbing & tugging.

Here’s how they look on my eyes (pardon the late nights shown on my dark circles (LOL):

Have to be applied on clean eyelids, AIR PATROL did give matte result..as you can see from the pic above. The texture is not too creamy or too runny, very easy to blend either with the tip or with our own finger. Twist the pen applicator twice for each eyelid, dot and spread. That’s how I did it.

I believe the beige yellowish shade blurred the discoloration on my lids. Make sure you don’t put too much to avoid that too yellow shade. And on one of those lazy day, this primer can be used alone without eyeshadow.

Can you tell from the pic above?

On the top, I applied Air Patrol before my eyeshadows & liner. Check out how the colors of my eyeshadows popped out more, even my black eyeliner look more intense. It did keep my eyeshadows & liner from creasing and fading in the middle of day, due to hot weather & humidity. Air Patrol is perfect for those who have oily lids like me, as we’re more prone to ‘lose’ eyeshadows easily.

Air Patrol is now available at Benefit Indonesia’s counters.

TEA RITUAL IN A SPA

Yes you read correctly. Thanks to The Dharmawangsa, I was invited to experience a whole new unique spa treatment at their spa, Bimasena.

Named The Dharmawangsa Tea Ritual, it was a heavenly 2,5 hours tea based ritual spa treatment, using THEMAE Paris products, known for their passion in tea (FYI, THEMAE is a Japanese name for the tea preparation ceremony). There are 4 types of teas inside their products: red, white, green and black tea, combined with well-balanced spring water to keep its ultimate purity. Each tea bring their own benefits: red for soothing, white for regenerating, green for antioxidant, and black for stimulating. Currently, we can only get THEMAE’s products in exclusive spas (Bimasena Spa is the first in Jakarta to sell their products).

The ritual begins with a tea foot wash (as you can see above), followed by Nepalese Style Tea Exfoliation. Using THEMAE’s Gommage The Au Nepal, a creamy body exfoliant, my therapist began to make an eight strokes on any possible areas. It was a fast movement making (literally) number eight, very funny feeling yet it didn’t feel harsh at all. The treatment continued with another one hour of Oriental Massage, which I prefer rather than deep tissue massage. Very gentle movements, yet I can feel the lightness of my body afterwards. Using fingers and forearms, the technique that the therapist got after 3 months of full training at THEMAE is not to leave the customers unattended. That means, hands on all the time during the treatment. And they didn’t use massage oil at all, which is great because most of the time, they just left a sticky feeling all over. Instead, they’re using THEMAE’s Baume Des Quatre Thes, body massage balm. Very rich and creamy, it didn’t leave any stickiness so no need to rinse. Bonus: a nice scent of vanilla! The treatment ended with Instant Glow Green Tea Facial, to bring radiance to whole. And the Tibetan Bells’ sound reminPlease make a reservation if you want to try this awesome treatment as well. You can contact Bimasena Spa (021-7258668 ext.8300).

After the spa (sadly) ended, the PR Team of The Dharmawangsa (thanks to Lira and team), invited me and fellow press to have a HEALTHY GOURMET LUNCH. Served only on Wednesday at The Dharmawangsa’s JAKARTA Restaurant, it was a healthy buffet, perfect companion after a spa treatment.

BRIGHTNESS ON A BRUSH

I can live without colors on my face, but I can’t make it through the day without a concealer.

Who woke up looking like Miranda Kerr (except her, of course!)? For mere human being like moi, I woke up with the worst dark circles, and those aging spots are catching up too. That’s why I need concealer, stat! I tried so many concealers already, some met my expectations, some not. I love having a concealer which can conceal correctly (hellooooo!!!!), blend easily (read: nice texture) and didn’t cake.

Recently, I’ve been using L’Occitane Immortelle Brightening Touch Targeted Corrector, the latest tinted brush concealer from Immortelle range. And my beauty verdicts are:

  • It’s very compact. Brush inside a pen made application easier for its’ precision to help conceal the right spot.
  • Non greasy and very light texture. It absorb easily as I pat through to blend.
  • It doesn’t just conceal blemishes or age spots, it seems to brighten my dark sides of the face like areas sides of nose and dark circles (thanks to the active ingredients like Bellis Perennis & Vitamin C).
  • It doesn’t settle in fine lines or creases, even though I applied face powder afterwards.
  • I love the fact that L’Occitane also recommend to apply this over makeup for touch up. Nice!

L’Occitane Immortelle Brightening Touch Targeted Corrector is now available throughout L’Occitane Indonesia’s stores or you can go online, here.

JUST LIKE THOSE CITIES THAT NEVER SLEEP

So do our skin.

For me, I don’t need breakthrough research and surveys about how lack of sleep can do bad things to my skin. The result(s) will be seen instantly in the morning, when my beauty sleep was lessen due to lots of things. Surely, they don’t call it ‘beauty sleep’ for nothing. Eyes look dark and puffy, and worst..skin look dull and prone to acne.

Seriously, how on earth does sleep can save our skin? Well, according to medical research, lack of sleep leads to increased levels of stress hormones in our body. It can cause inflammation within the skin that subsequently leads to an acceleration of aging. Sleep deprivation also reduces our skin’s ability to stay hydrated and supple, leading to   a dull & dehydrated appearance. And…those with poor sleeping habits might have trouble with skin sensitivity and irritation due to a reduction in the skin’s ability to protect itself from chemicals & pollutants in the environment.

It’ll be nice to know, that our skin have their own ability to repair themselves at night. But it’s hurtful to know that as we age, our bodies naturally produce less melatonin, which affect our skin’s ability to repair itself at night. So, what to do? I love slathering on serum and cream before I go to bed every night, knowing that we naturally lose moisture during sleeping time. And lately, my favorite will be Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair Synchronized Recovery Complex II. The 2013 version of their best selling and iconic Advanced Night Repair serum, combined the process of purification & synchronizing of night time repair so skin will look better and younger.

At the press launch, the Estee Lauder Indonesia’s team applied it on the back of my hand, let it soak for two seconds, and sprayed water on top of it. They told me to flip my hand, and what do you know…the water didn’t fall down! It surely acts as moisture magnet and deliver non-stop hydration for the skin. The other additional benefits are anti-pollution technology to reduce the appearance of skin damage caused by UV rays and pollution, anti-oxidants to protect and repair damage to skin from daily ravages and hyaluronic acid to keep skin hydrated.

Easily absorbed with no scent, I use one pump from the pipette every night on my face and neck area before my usual night cream. The result after I use it for almost a month now: let’s just say, my skin looks well rested in the morning even if the owner did not.

GO GLOSS!

Are you in love with your hair color?

If your answer is no, you should run to your favorite L’Oréal Professionnel salon and try their new service, “Hair Gloss: In Love With My Color”.  At the press conference last Tuesday, Ivonne Vania, Product Manager Color L’Oréal Professionnel Indonesia said, “4.2 million Indonesian women are afraid to color their hair, based on our survey in salons. They afraid coloring might make their hair dry and brittle.” While me, (duh!) colored my hair like once a month. I believe this new service will be great for first timer aka virgin hair that never been colored before, and those who long for natural colored hair, with or without highlight. The difference with other coloring services? Hair Gloss will make your colored hair shinier and softer to touch.

“If you want to covered your grey hair and if you want to make your colored hair look more natural, this service is also for you,” said Yola Sutjiutomo, Business Unit Manager L’Oréal Professionnel.

Three different products are the key for this latest service, DIA RICHESSE, DIA LIGHT & PLATINIUM. Dia Richesse to cover grey hair and create natural colored hair. Dia Light will give extra shine and soft color. While Platinium creates a perfect, natural and soft highlight.

There are 3 looks to inspire & most probably will make you fall in love with your hair color (again): GLOSS HIGHLIGHT, SOFT COLOR GLOSS & GREY BLENDING.

As an addict for any hair color products or services available, I’d definitely try this service. I’ll keep you posted for sure.
