WHAT TO DO IF YOU ONLY HAVE ONE FULL DAY IN YOGYAKARTA?

Last week I had a very short trip to Yogyakarta with my colleagues at work. It was fun, considering the last time I went to Yogyakarta was about 10 years ago. It wasn’t even Yogyakarta, I went to Magelang for Thierry Mugler’s event, back then in my editors’ days.

I had no expectations at all, so I might say..I was quite surprised with this super short trip. Me and my colleagues decided to do culinary stuff and just chill with no ambitious itinerary. We stayed at Greenhost Boutique Hotel, a small hotel with a seriously instagramable lobby. Even when we arrived at night, it looks cool. This is an eco-friendly hotel, so expect no hand towels, and no hair dryer. If you tried to dry your hair with your own hair dryer, the electricity in your room will go down. And never mind the air conditioner, it wasn’t a cold chilly room. Expect: ‘room temperature’ temperature.

But, at least the room is clean, and the pillows are not smelly.

Since the breakfast is so-so at the hotel, we decided to try ViaVia. Within walking distance from the hotel, it was a small local bakery with decent brunch.

I’ve had better brunch, but I love the ambience in this bakery.

For lunch, we went to Gudeg Sagan. ‘Wet type’ gudeg which I love so much, with gravy and no msg. And their Beras Kencur is ‘da bomb’. These meals reminded me of my childhood, eating gudeg with my mom in Pasar Cikini, Jakarta.

While in Yogyakarta, we didn’t want to miss visiting Lulu Lutfi Labibi’s workshop in Kampung Pekaten. Even though we got lost on our first attempt, it was literally a beautiful kind of lost, as we went through this beautiful village with vintage houses.

Lulu is famous for his drapping lurik’s creation, so it was truly a sight for sore eyes visiting his boutique/workshop. And of course, his place is so instagramable!

To more affordable shopping place, we went to Lemari Lila. In this super tiny but cute boutique, I found a lurik outer for IDR400K only. And good to know, that they only created not more than 12 pieces for one design. So, bumping into others who wore the same thing is less likely.

Now, off for some coffee.

We went to Ruang Seduh for some decent coffee. They actually have the same coffee shop in Jakarta, which I like better, because they have more snacks and bigger/nicer space.

For dinner, we decided to go to this nice restaurant that we found accidentally when we strolled down the street back to the hotel. Mediterranea Restaurant, owned by French chef, Camille Massard Combe or well known as Chef Kamil. When we googled it, this restaurant turned out to be number one restaurant in Yogyakarta in trip advisor.

We were surprised because their prices are just super affordable for such a nice restaurant. They have this small shop which sells jam, bread etc, inside the restaurant, which reminds me a lot of Dean & Deluca. Must try if you’re visiting Yogyakarta.

For something to bring home, we bought Monggo Chocolate. They do have this brand in Jakarta, but in Yogyakarta, they are cheaper. I love their strawberry chocolate, but for those who are more adventurous, try their rendang or red chili chocolate!

One tip if you want to visit Yogyakarta: rent a car, so it’s easier to drive here and there.

See you in another travel posts!

The collection is Renaissance arrives at Studio 54—I like to talk in more than one language. Fashion isn’t about going in just one direction; I think it’s very contemporary to have many different inspirations.

Last week I went to see Gucci’s Fall Winter 2016 private viewing cocktail party.

And I stumbled upon these. Too bad they don’t have the Gucci Ghost version. But I love the red ones, what do you think?

Darn it! I just realised that tote matched my outfit of that day! *drool*

Even though they don’t carry the Ghost tote..they have the pouch!

This red pouch is located on the men’s section, so yeah..I explored men’s one before the ladies.

Those Princetown tartan slippers for guys is just to die for!

Then off to the ladies….

I swear to God if I don’t have to save for this year end of holiday’s trip, I’ll snag these metallic mid-heel pumps. Seriously, mid-heel is the ‘it’ height to be seen these days..what stilettos?

And last but definitely not least: the sneakers. These are the same type of sneakers that Taylor Swift worn (google them, you’ll find the pic).

ESCAPE IS BEAUTIFUL (part 2)

I’ll be a very happy person if Jakarta has winter like Hong Kong. Therefore all layering will be out without a sweat.

Tried my best to did OOTD while in Hong Kong and Macau. Yes, we did one day trip to Macau, which apparently ended up in a rush (literally). People, one day trip was not enough to visit Macau. There are too many beautiful sights (not talking about the sea of humans on Senado Square and Ruins of St. Paul) on unknown streets around old Macau. Definitely will visit again another time.

Here are some of my OOTD that my hubby took around HK & Macau.

I learned that in gloomy weather, we really should amped up on brighter color for lips.

Thanks to my youngest boy who love museums, now I begin to like them too. At least I wasn’t swamped by sea of humans here. I felt very zen in Hong Kong Museum of History.

Black leggings and high top sneakers are a must whenever I travel to a colder climate country. Time to wear those wools!

Another museum visit. This time to Museu De Macau on top of the hill. Long coat and quirky sunglasses made my day.

Crossed the busy street near Time Square, HK. Bright coloured accessories such as scarves will add a pop of fun to winter clothes (which mostly come in darker shades).

MY HAIR JOURNEY WITH CG210 (PART 4)

Happy New Year, all. Sorry for such slow post as I’d been traveling with my family to Hong Kong.

As you might already experienced, traveling with others is not easy as too many things to do have to be accomplished in such short time of holiday. So if you have personal mission to achieve on family holiday, forget it!

But at least, I was well prepared with my things to bring for the holiday!

Of course, one might not neglect hair care while on traveling too. That’s why my Abbott CG 210 was there inside my traveling beauty bag, alongside other important stuffs (like stronger perfume and stronger shades of lipsticks). It wasn’t a hassle anyway, CG210 was like spray twice a day on dry clean hair, massage for a minute and out the hotel door!

I’ve been using CG210 for about 90 days now, so how did it differ from my previous post here? Well, as you can see from the pic below, I did perm my hair. Inspired by Aimee Song, I decided 2016 will be the perfect time to rock the Japanese wave. So yeah, I did it. Bye2 straight hair (for now).

I believe that my hair shaft is getting thicker, even when I permed my hair at the salon, the hairstylist was surprised to see less hair fall like her other clients. She said, usually her clients who have strong colored hair like mine, will lost lots of hair while being permed. Meanwhile, my roots appeared to getting stronger, thanks to CG210.

Unlike some haircare or hair treatment products that I just leave at home while traveling, because they will consumed my precious holiday time, CG210 is literally spray and go. Especially now that I have that ‘messy hair don’t care’ look, I never brush my hair anymore (lessen my hair routine time).

Sharing you my OOTD look from Hong Kong, below, so you can see my hair from the front view.
