AS EASY AS 1,2,3,4,5

My favorite for this makeup problem: REVLON PHOTOREADY Primer+Shadow.

Yes, it’s that easy.

My tips:

REVLON PHOTOREADY Primer+Shadow #510 Graffiti

REVLON PHOTOREADY Primer+Shadow #515 Renaissance

REVLON PHOTOREADY Primer+Shadow #525 Avant Garde

REVLON PHOTOREADY Primer+Shadow #535 Pop Art

AS LEBARAN IS APPROACHING…

Really fast as I typed, have you had any ideas of what to give to your loved ones, or simply what make up looks do you want to pull off on that special day?

You’ll find an amazing array of gift sets in The Body Shop Indonesia’s stores. With so many choices, ranging price from Rp 99.000 (really?), the Lebaran’s gifts will be in stores from July 25, 2013.

Last week I was invited by The Body Shop Indonesia’s media gathering to break fasting together with fellow medias and bloggers. The event was held at Hotel Mulia Senayan, Jakarta, where the team sent out inspirational gifts and looks for Lebaran.

Inspired by Morocco, every single gift box was wrapped beautifully, it’s impossible not to find the perfect gift for your loved ones. If you’re a perfectionist and you want to pick out your own gifts from The Body Shop’s massive products in their stores, no fret. You, yes you, can “create your own gift”. Pick the products in stores and The Body Shop Indonesia’s team will wrap your gifts instantly in front of your very eyes.

And the beauty of Ramadan didn’t stop there. The Body Shop Indonesia’s makeup artists, created three special looks for Lebaran. Easy to achieve and not intimidating for Lebaran (trust me your parent in law won’t comment on your look this year), three looks called ‘So soft & shimmery’, ‘Bright Rosy Lip’ and ‘Intense Smokey Eye’.

Check out the pics from the event above.

DO YOU FIT TO THESE CRITERIAS?

Controversial, Edgy, Dare to be different?

If you do, then you’ll love Yves Saint Laurent Beaute. Originally launched in 1978, the makeup line known for being extravagance through their palette of textures and colors has been marketed in Indonesia for five years under L’Oréal Indonesia. According to Novi, Brand Manager YSL Beaute Indonesia, the brand voted as Indonesia’s highest growth beauty brand last year. No surprised, considering they have their best selling products like Touche Eclat (reportedly sold one every 10 seconds in the world) and very strong demand in lipstick category.

Last Tuesday, I was invited to the Media Gathering where Yves Saint Laurent Beaute Indonesia announced their collaboration with Gusnaldi, one of the top makeup artist in Indonesia. He’s the most sought after makeup artist among our local celebrities and his works can be seen on many of our top local prints as well. Back in the print days, I used to worked with him a lot, and I can see why he fits to the YSL’s criteria. He’s definitely the one that can be in line with YSL’s signature makeup, edgy, couture and sexy.

Gusnaldi reinterpreted three looks which was originally created by Lloyd Simmonds, Creative Director Makeup YSL Beaute. As makeup are reflected perfectly by lights, then these looks are all about experiencing the magic light, created by YSL’s best selling products. Named Studio Lumiere, the light belongs to Yves Saint Laurent, check out the steps to the beauty ritual above. And…as expected, Gusnaldi worked his magic hands by giving summer colors a bold boost, through his “Parisian” look, artsy and very fashionable for his “Couture” look and set smoky eyes with different strokes for his “Tuxedo” look.

The exact steps of the exclusive global ritual were followed by Gusnaldi on his two models at the event. Prepped the skin with Forever Youth Liberator and according to Gusnaldi “will make pores look smaller”,  diffusing the light with the Le Teint Touche Eclat “foundation inspired by Touche Eclat”, sculpt the light “it’s highlighting not concealing” and set the light with additional tools like powder, lipstick, eyeshadow, eyeliner and blush. Gusnaldi loves to pile on lips, he used lip gloss first to moist and add lipstick on top, then another lip gloss to make lips look healthy and keep the lipstick last longer. Hmmm…good trick.

HOW WOULD YOU SPEND YOUR PAYCHECKS FOR MAKEUP?

I believe many of you would love to spend a lot for a piece of that designer’s lipstick.

Who doesn’t? But for those who are still looking for an affordable way to get our makeup products change in a fast period of time (personally I called this “Beauty Itch”), fret not. Wet n Wild is our access to get that ‘itches’ gone in no time. Beauty brand originated from Los Angeles, USA, is now accessible for Indonesia’s market.

Good to know that most of their products are gluten free and vegan, plus they are one of the PETA-certified cruelty free brand (hello, that means they never test on animals). Their latest collaboration is with Fergie to support amfAR (that’s American Foundation for AIDS Research), and yes, Fergie is their latest Global Beauty Ambassador as well. Too bad Fergie’s collection is not available here in Indonesia, but you’ll be glad to know that their products won’t cost you the world. For nothing cost more than Rp 150.000 each, getting your hands on the new colors of eyeshadows, lipsticks, lipglosses, blushers, eyeliners and nail colors won’t be that exhausting for our dear wallet.

And thanks to Wet n Wild Indonesia, I’ve got picked as one of their official Beauty Ambassador and I’m honored. See my first ever Wet n Wild’s look above created with Color Icon Eyeshadow Trio #380B Walking On Eggshells (it cost Rp 89.000), Mega Liner #E861 Black (Rp 79.000), Mega Slicks #E568 Bronze Berry (Rp 69.000).

And the verdict? No fuzz eyeshadow trios, as they were embossed on each color. Very thoughtful ideas, don’t you think? So beginners who are clueless about which color goes where, will know exactly where to put the Browbone, Crease and Eyelid color where it belongs. A bit shimmery yet pigmented colors glide on easily and they last until I took them off at night. The colors look very natural, perfect for day look.

Even though I’m not a big fan of liquid eyeliner and brush that usually comes with it, but I love their Mega Liner. Like the eyeshadows, it’s very pigmented, glides on easily and long lasting. Look how I managed to achieve those thin strokes?

As for the Mega Slicks, I have to say the color looks very very natural on me. First application might be a bit shimmery but after blending, it sets quite well to give me a full looking lips without the chapped. My lips did look healthier and plumpier. It has the scent which reminds me of overcooked caramel, sans the taste.

Being a first timer using this beauty brand, now I’m not surprised why Wet n Wild has built their reputation over the last 30 years and noted as one of the leading authorities of color in the mass beauty market.

Visit their Indonesia’s online store to view the complete range.

FROM BB TO CC, NOW DD?

I know one day there’ll be more twin alphabets in this phenomenon cream.

Claimed to contain more coverage than her older sister, BB Cream, and more benefits to the skin than her other older sister, CC Cream, this multi benefit makeup slash skin care by Julep (founded in Seattle beauty brand) will be launch in June 2013.

DD stands for Dynamic Do-all makeup and it surely is. Equipped with SPF25, it’ll also act as primer, moisturizer and anti-aging in one tube. Awesome!

FOR THE SPORTY, SEXY AND GLAM GALS

Coming in my birthday month, August 2013, Michael Kors’ new venture: beauty line.

Depends on someone’s mood, I believe that there’s a little bit of sporty, sexy and glam inside every woman. And guess what? Those three have always been a DNA for Michael Kors.

His beauty line which will be exclusively sold in Macy’s, will be divided into three collections, Sporty, Sexy and Glam. Each one will have its’ own fragrance, lip colors and nail polishes. Fans of nudes and taupes? You will love Sporty. Vibrant Reds are your thing? Go for Sexy. And if you’re into plums and violets, you know you are the Glam gal.

DON’T BE A FOOL WHEN IT COMES TO MAKEUP

On this April Fools’ Day, I’m going to share my Holy Grail when it comes to fool-proof makeup.

In my own term, fool-proof means practical yet it stands against Jakarta’s weather (which become more hot and humid these days).

In alphabetical order:
– Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Powder Duo : as natural as real brows, I hate fake looking brows which created by some pencil.

– Bobbi Brown Concealer : it concealed well without cracking and works magically for that zit coverage.

– Chanel Les 4 Ombres Quadra Eyeshadow : palette of fun, just mix and blend to create any looks I desired.

– Guerlain Meteorites Pearls : for that radiant finish which somehow made my makeup seem more natural.

–  MAC Cosmetics Studio Fix Powder Plus Foundation : let me tell you a little secret: once a beauty brand PR from other brand which also carried cosmetics line, bought this without hesitation. Need I say more?

– Maybelline New York Volum’ Express One by One Mascara : the chubby tube and brush at it’s best. No clumps when applied, no smudges while sweating.

– NARS Satin Lip Pencil : it lines, it fills, it doesn’t crack, it stays on.

– The Body Shop All In One Blusher : no need to touch up during day time, as its’ extra fine powder blended well and stay there until you wipe it off.

FRESH STOCKS & FREE VOUCHERS

Now, these are what I called a wonderful news from the Indonesia’s beauty world.

We live in a country which has a very tough government’s regulation of trade, especially for importers. That’s why it’s always a tough situation for us, beauty fans, because we’re definitely worried if we’re running out of our stocks. So addicted to our beauty products, we’ll go nuts (right?) if we can’t buy them no more in stores, because they’re running out of stocks.

Unfortunately, that exactly what happened to Make Up For Ever fans in Indonesia, who might experienced low stock of products since December 2012. But afraid not, they released a notice last week that Make Up For Ever products in Indonesia are back in full force. Yes ladies, no need to go nuts, go get your favorite Make Up For Ever products now. For myself, I might go stacking up on my favorites: HD Powder & HD Concealer. Oh, and I can’t wait to get my hands on Technicolor Palette (their latest eye shadow palette).

And the great news don’t stop there, the good people at Make Up For Ever are giving away free vouchers (each Rp 100.000) in their Facebook Page. Click here to print your own voucher now. Happy shopping. I know I will.

WHEN A CONCERT IS NOT JUST A CONCERT

Six different outfits changed, made mostly by Riccardo Tisci for Givenchy, and a serious face chart by MAC Cosmetics.

Kicking her Diamonds World Tour in Montreal last weekend, Rihanna rocked the stage with serious stuffs indeed. This official face chart designed by one of MAC’s senior artists, Christopher del Castillo, for her signature concert’s look. Using the RIRI (Hearts) MAC collection which will be released throughout 2013, the one product that stands out from this chart is MAC Riri Woo. Sounds familiar? Yup, it’s based on the original and one of the beloved MAC Ruby Woo lipstick (which also loved by Gwen Stefani, by the way) but this Riri’s version is slightly bluer and deeper in tone.

ELECTRIC BOOST

Bored of your eye makeup? Take a hint from Thakoon Fall 2013 show.

Deep blue with shimmering gold glitter for the eyelids. Quite dreamy, but very refreshing.

NARS makeup artist, Diane Kendal, did this look for Thakoon which was a juxtaposition between winter and summer.

If you want to give this look a try for a perfect weekend night out, you might want to tone it down a level. Use a deep blue eyeshadow with a matte texture from lash line to the crease. Stay clear from using winged eyeliner, and tap a bit of gold eyeshadows with shimmer (instead of glitter) on the center of each lid. This will do that eye-catching trick.
