REVIEW: L’ORÉAL INFALLIBLE LE ROUGE

It has been a lot of gloomy days right here in Jakarta, Indonesia. Raining non-stop and the weather is just bad. When gloomy days happened, personally I love to pop some brightness on my makeup routine. And the easiest is just put on that bright lips, pronto!

Good people at L’Oréal sent me a bunch of their latest Infallible range, and these lipsticks named LE ROUGE are just a few of them. 

The packaging is slimmer than the standard lipsticks, but it’s definitely not a slim ones. Not as chubby, not as slim. Medium size, I might say.

They look matte on the tube, but once applied, they’re very creamy and shiny. 

I believe L’Oréal steps up their lipstick game with these babies. The formula really delivers bold and vivid color on the lips. Plus they added vitamin E to keep lips moist and comfortable. One swipe is enough as the shade really popped out.

They claimed this to last up to 10 hours, but after drinking and eating they might slipped and need to reapply. I recommend to use lip liner beforehand, so they won’t bleed. And to protect furthermore, just blot after applying with a piece of tissue. At these swatches below, I didn’t use any lipliner and lip balm. Please mind my dry skin around the mouth area (if you noticed, LOL).

REFINED RUBY = bright fuchsia

RAVISHING RED = coralish red

PERSISTENT PLUM = dark plum, a bit vampish (my fave!)

NEW FROM ROLLOVER REACTION

This hip local beauty brand just launched their latest shade today.

ROLLOVER REACTION already had 8 permanent shades and 1 limited edition shade in their line. And this February (16 February to be exact), they will launch their latest shade in collaboration with Hellua (known as @thelipstickmafiaaa on instagram) and Pola Artistry who designed the product identity for the packaging. Just like their previous shades’ names which taken from the Beatles’ songs, this gleaming shade was named PENNY (taken from Penny Lanes). 

It took more than 6 months for them to create Penny, from picking the right shade until the perfect visual for the packaging. As the previous shades, this is not just a lipstick, people! They’re all named SUEDED! Lip & Cheek Cream. So yeah, they can be use for lips, cheeks and eyes if you wish. 

What differ Penny from the others in their existing line? If the others have velvet matte texture, Penny has a slightly different formula but the same scent. A new take on matte, indeed. It’s still matte, but with a touch of pearlescent glow. A bit metallic, I might say. Its’ rosy bronze shade really looks good on Hellua which has warm undertone (most Indonesians have this skin tone). 

I’m a bit on the lighter side of skin tone (read: pale), so this is how Penny looks like on the back of my hand and on my lips. 

Check out me and Hellua rocked Penny on the event today. I used Penny as the lip topper, and Hellua applied on top of SADDIE (one of the permanent shade from Rollover Reaction), and she also used Penny on her eyes & cheeks. She’s glowing, right? 

Instead of the differences on how Penny will look like on different skin tone like most of the lipsticks out there, I believe this shade will look good on everyone. Unlike other metallic shades (most of them are International brands), Penny pops to the most subtle possible. It’s a very fresh version of metallic lipstick trend, perfect for those who want to highlight your pouts. Not just that (unless you’ve been living under a rock), metallic lids will be big this year. So yeah, play up your makeup game and wait for Penny to launch on Rollover Reaction’s website, here on February 16, 2017. Remember, Penny is a limited edition shade. If it’s gone, it’s gone!

NEW LOCAL BRANDS: VOTRE PEAU & FÉRNANDO

I don’t know about you, but I always feel safe when I tried new skincare products that created by well-known dermatologist. I met dr. Kevin Maharis at one of the beauty event last year, and great to know that he and his brother, dr. Ricky (also a dermatologist) launched VOTRE PEAU & FÉRNANDO. 

If you go to their website, you can see that currently they don’t have too many products yet. But from the look of the packaging (I love the illustration) and the quality of the products, I am pretty sure this local Indonesian brand will bloom soonest. 

They sent me four products, two skincare and two liquid lipsticks to try. 

VOTRE PEAU VITAMIN C SERUM

One of their best selling product, this serum is an anti-oxidant to be used before everything else. My first impression: a very nice non-sticky serum, easily absorbed and didn’t leave any strange glow or shimmer on skin. I love it already! Comes in pump bottle and thick gel texture. The grapefruit scent is not over-powering, and I can’t wait to see my skin getting better using this. They claimed it can reduce the appearance of dark-circles under the eyes area, too. I’ll update you guys on this matter.

VOTRE PEAU BRIGHTENING SPRAY SAKE ESSENCE

Yes, Sake. Apparently, sake contains kojic acid which will delay pigmentation and brighten the skin. They claimed that this is safe for sensitive skin and no side-effects, even if we use it several times daily. Comes in spray bottle and matte watery texture, this actually have no scent. First impression: very refreshing, and sprayed evenly. And like the serum, it didn’t leave any stickiness or any greasy feeling. 

FÉRNANDO MATTE LIP CREAM 

They sent me two shades to try: RUSSIAN ROULETTE & SPICE ROUTE. Love the glamorous packaging which reminds me a bit of KYLIE. First impression: when I swatched on my hand, they dried fast and I have to use cleansing oil to wipe them off. Long live longevity, indeed!

Russian Roulette is red coral-ish. It’s a very bold red, which I believe will be in this year. Bye bye nude! 

Spice Route is a dark mauve. An everyday must-have if you’re not a big fan of red shades.

L’ORÉAL INFALLIBLE PARTY

Earlier this week, I attended L’Oréal Paris Infallible Party in Grand Hyatt Hotel, Jakarta, Indonesia.

Two of their brand ambassadors were there, Maudy Ayunda and Dian Sastrowardoyo, along with my fellow blogger, Hellua (aka The Lipstick Mafia). 

At the event, they discussed about their makeup enemies, as we Indonesians are dealing with sweat and humidity: biggest enemies for our makeup longevity. But worry no more, as L’Oréal Makeup Designer Paris came up with this latest makeup range, L’Oréal Paris Infallible.

REVIEW: VOV ALL DAY STRONG EYE COLOR & LIP COLOR

Unlike most of Korean brands which concentrate on skincare products, VOV strengthened
its position in Indonesia to be the only K-Makeup who concentrates on colors
makeup. And these are their latest innovations eye & lip colors makeup: ALL
DAY STRONG EYE COLOR & LIP COLOR. Both come in chubby retractable matte
pencil packaging, with a big round tip.

Here’s my review.

ALL DAY STRONG EYE COLOR

They sent me three shades of eye color to try, SL 211 (Silver Salt), PK 101 (Diabouquet) and BR 802 (Nude Foundation). As the name stated, SL 211 is shimmery silver, PK 101 is light
pink with shimmer and BR 802 is a pretty caramel shade with matte texture. I
believe it’s the only matte in the range. Please … please make more matte
shades in the future.

Personally, I don’t like to use shimmer and creamy eye color because I have oily lids and the colors will look ugly by noon. But with this VOV ones are different. Even though the two out of three shades, SL 211 and PK 101 are shimmery, they didn’t end up with oily lids
look. Judging from the swatch I did on a piece of paper, not even a slight of oil shown after 24 hours.

The best part: the shades stay true even if I don’t use eye primer and they didn’t crease by the end of the day.

I recommend to use these as eye shadow, not liner, because the tips are kind of big and round which make it difficult to reach small corner. And, make sure you blend fast after applying, because they tend to set faster than any eye color pencils I’ve tried. I love to bring these as a part of my traveling makeup kit, as I don’t have to worry they’ll be
broken to dust.

ALL DAY STRONG LIP COLOR

Being K-Makeup, their shades are limited to pink, red and orange. I wish they’ll
extend to nude shades because I really like their texture. They sent me three shades:
PK 101 (Pingvely), RD 302 (Smoke Red), and OR 202 (Coralster). As you can see
on the swatch I made, PK 101 is more to fuchsia than a true pink, RD 302 is a
brownish red and OR 202 is coral with touch of pink. These shades are lovely
bright, perfect to wear with nude eyes look.

Very smooth and creamy texture, therefore really easy to apply (you can skip lip
liner because these can act like one, too). Unlike some K-Makeup lipsticks I’ve
tried, these are super pigmented and gave matte finish without exaggerating any
lip lines. And hardly any kiss-up…yes, they’re transfer-proof but no worries,
they’re easily remove by cleansing oil.

REVIEW: MAYBELLINE LIP FLUSH BITTEN LIP

fabulous lipsticks to review.

Featuring three gradient shades in one lipstick
bullet, this lipstick will surely help those who wants to achieve that
Korean-inspired ombre lips look. Without the hassles of having to cover the
whole lips with foundation and powder, then applied two, or even three lipstick
shades from different bullets, these lipsticks are killing it in terms of
practicality.

Let’s swatch them, shall we?

From Top to Bottom order: OR 01, RD 01, RD 03, PK
01

Verdict:

  • Texture: ultra creamy and glides smoothly on
    bare lips (sans lip balm).
  • Scent: fruity like melon. They claimed to use
    colors that are infused with natural food grade pigments (but still…avoid
    licking them).
  • Final result: it looks glossy on the lips, but
    surprisingly not sticky. Subtle sheen and not shimmery, it gives this naturally
    stained look.
  • Durability: need to reapply after drinking and/or
    eating.

How they looked on my lips. RD1 and PK1 are almost similar in term of shades. If I have to pick my favorite shades will be RD3, the darkest of all four shades that they sent me.

THERE’LL BE COLOR FOR EVERY YOU

Last week, yours truly were one of the host for the grand launch of FLORMAR.

New makeup brand which arrived in Jakarta, Indonesia where I currently live, is always welcome. We love makeup. That bad. Especially when they are good and affordable. Located at Kota Kasablanka Mall, this is their first flagship store in Jakarta, Indonesia. 

Born in Milan, Italy and now produced and very huge in Turkey, there are currently 1000 plus type of products in the store. Guess what? They still have 1000 more, including skincare which currently not available yet for Indonesia’s market. 

So, what caught my eyes? Basically everything, they have lots of colors & formulas for each type of nail’s need, face, eyes and lips. 

I can’t believe their prices, either. Comparing to local makeup brands, these are imported items, people! Yet, most of FLORMAR products are cheaper than local brands. Nail polishes from IDR 35K, Matte Lipstick priced at IDR 95K and Mascara for IDR 70K? Are you guys kidding me? How about their quality, you might ask. I will reveal my top 10 must have from FLORMAR very soon, so stay tune. Meanwhile, I’m gonna leave you with some pics from the launch event. ALL ABOUT THE BASE

REVIEW: MAYBELLINE FIT ME RANGE

I believe in the power of base makeup. I wasn’t born with a perfect porcelain skin, so I depend (a lot) on my base. Foundation, concealer, and powder are totally my best friend. When Maybelline Fit Me Range was launched, I was super excited because they carry two kind of foundation, Dewy + Smooth for Normal to Dry Skin and Matte + Poreless for Oily Skin. And of course, having an oily skin, I love the Matte + Poreless one.

Cons: they didn’t come with pump, so be careful when pouring it.

So, what’s the difference between both foundation?

I tested on blotting paper as I always does with other foundation of mine, and check that out. The right one is the Dewy + Smooth, look at oil that surrounds the foundation. Meanwhile, the Matte + Poreless on the left side, doesn’t have that much oil surround it.

Let’s move on to concealer, shall we?

I love the wand, seriously! it picked up the right amount of concealer to cover one zit. The texture is just right, not too watery nor too thick and blended well when applied with finger or beauty blender. Choose the lighter shade for highlight and the correct shade for your skin tone to conceal everything, from blemishes, spots and dark circles.

Last but not least, FIT ME POWDER.

Like the foundation, they come with two choices, for SET + SMOOTH for normal to dry skin and MATTE + PORELESS for normal to oily skin. Comes with sponge and mirror, also perfect for touch ups.

My tips to look super natural: use Matte + Poreless foundation and end with SET + SMOOTH powder. It won’t give you that dead matte look (see my pic below).

For the coverage, I might say that it doesn’t fall on heavy category. Concealer is still a must. However, to cover big pores and stay true matte for hours, it did a very good job. Totally recommended.

And of course, I also try the DEWY + SMOOTH foundation, end with Matte + Poreless Powder to make it less shiny.

What do you think of the comparison? I believe the Dewy + Smooth Foundation gives more healthy look, even though I am not a big fan of the texture. More liquidy than the Matte + Poreless Foundation and it feels stickier. But I love the final result after I set with Matte + Poreless Powder. I believe the powder help to minimize my big pores as well as toning down the stickiness of the Dewy + Smooth Foundation. As for the coverage, this also needs concealer to help cover things up.

Final Verdict: these Fit Me range is definitely my new favorite. I’ll mix things up depends on my skin condition which can be super oily at one moment and dry the other. I will repurchase them because I use base makeup every day, it sounds silly to splurge on high end ones.
