APRIL 2021 SKINCARE HAUL

Grateful because I still have lots of skincare products from brands that were sent to me as their PR packages, so I’ll make sure that I only purchased max 3 items in a month. Here are my haul this month.

BENTON ALOE PROPOLIS SOOTHING GEL

I purchased this instantly after I saw one of Director Pi’s YouTube video about how to minimize pores. In that video, she recommends to mix clay mask (wash-off mask) with kaolin ingredient, with aloe gel. So I chose this one because it’s safe for fungal acne (obviously), contains 80% of aloe barbadensis leaf juice and 10% of propolis. Actually it’s a moisturizer, so I might use this as a moisturizer too.
Price IDR135K for 100ml.

SKIN GAME ACNE WARRIOR

This is a local brand, and I actually bought this for my son, since I don’t really use specific acne treatment. But looking at the ingredients’ list, it’s quite promising that’s why I purchased it. It contains: Calamine, Salicylic Acid, Sulfur and Kaolin, all great for acne. Don’t expect a full tube, though. In fact, mine (purchased from their official store in market place) only filled like half of the tube.
Price IDR125K for 30gr.

MARCH 2021 SKINCARE HAUL

All drugstore’s!

SIMPLE KIND TO SKIN SOOTHING FACIAL TONER
It went MIA for awhile in our local drugstores, but it’s back. Turned out, they changed the old packaging with a new one. An affordable, no-fuss daily toner, with good ingredients like Allantoin, Panthenol, Niacinamide and Chamomile extract. Priced at IDR 99K for a 200ml (and they’re on promos most of the time), it is safe for Fungal Acne and 100% alcohol free.

HIMALAYA HERBALS PURIFYING NEEM FACE WASH
Combination of Neem and Turmeric in this affordable face wash are really interesting. Neem to combat acne and turmeric (which is bright orange in real) helps to soothe skin. Even though it’s fungal-acne safe, it does contain sulfate, some allergens and fragrance. Priced at IDR 40K for 100ml.

HIMALAYA HERBALS PURIFYING NEEM MASK
It has been a while for me not to use wash-off mask in my skincare routine. However, this fungal-acne safe mask is equally affordable, so I can’t resist to try it. Anyway, it still contains sulfate, fragrance and paraben. Priced at IDR 40K for 100ml. I’ve posted a detailed review about this already, please click here to read.

FEBRUARY 2021 SKINCARE HAUL

Since I lost my permanent job and do freelance gigs from last year, I admit that I downgraded on my skincare purchases. I’m only picky on pricing, though, not quality!

Sharing you my skincare purchase this month.

GOODAL APPLE AHA CLEARING AMPOULE
It’s hard to find skincare products without Butylene Glycol (I believe this trigger my comedones), let alone an ampoule or serum. So when I found one, I decided to purchase it even though this one contains fragrance at the very last ingredients’ list. I bought this fungal acne safe ampoule on a market place, from a South Korea’s seller for IDR 225K for 30ml.

MENTHOLATUM ACNES DERMA CARE ANTI-BLEMISH ESSENCE
Stumbled upon this while doing my quick grocery shopping at local mall near my house. Priced at IDR 72K for a 20ml, I believe we shouldn’t apply as its’ name. I wonder why they named it ‘Essence’ while they also recommend to apply this as spot treatment. It contains vitamin C for brightening purpose but it was made for sensitive and acne prone skin. Interesting, right?

MENTHOLATUM ACNES DERMA CARE GENTLE CLEANSER
Currently they only have two products on this Derma Care line, so I decided why not. Priced at IDR 62K for a 120gr, it’s a pH balanced cleanser with two kinds of alcohol in the ingredients’ list (Cetyl and Cetearyl Alcohol). But, they also include the right stuffs, like Aloe and Salicylic Acid, alongside their hero ingredient, Vitamin C (Ascorbic Acid). Unfortunately, this cleanser still contains one ingredient that might trigger Fungal Acne, Sodium Methyl Cocoyl Taurate.

[VLOG] SKINCARE & DRUGSTORE’S HAUL

Yes, my lovely readers, I also have a YT Channel here, sharing vlog and my shopping trip, haul, etc.

On my latest episode, I share my haul from a local drugstore. I rarely went out on this pandemic, and when I did, I’ll make sure I checked out local drugstores to find new and interesting new products to try.

FIRST SKINCARE HAUL IN 2021

Not feeling like trying lots of new products this year (but that might change). I just want to stick to what worked for me in 2020, but some stuffs looked too interesting to pass.

But I do have my own personal rule for this year: I will not purchase anything over IDR600K. Why, if you might ask. Well, nowadays as a freelancer, I wouldn’t risk my life over skincare. I hope that answered your question, LOL.

I only purchased two things on the first month of January 2021, what an achievement for me personally!

ABSOLUTE NIACINAMIDE
If you’ve been following me, you’d know that I love Glossier Super Pure Serum. But it is super expensive, considering that I repeatedly purchase from online sis on market place. So I’ve been looking for Niacinamide serum with similar ingredients. And I found this serum made in Malaysia. I looked it up on incidecoder.com and both have 5 of the same ingredients! With the same amount (30ml) this costs IDR159K while Glossier costs IDR475K.

LA ROCHE POSAY TOLERIANE PURIFYING FOAMING CLEANSER
Learnings from last year, even though I stayed at home most of the days, but I still wash my face twice a day (don’t be lazy to clean your face guys, really). So, yes I ran out of face cleanser as quick as pre-pandemic. This costs a lot more here in Indonesia (priced at IDR525K for 400ml), because we don’t have this brand in local drugstores. It does remind me of Vanicream Gentle Cleanser, for its’ texture and after-feel, but with added Niacinamide in it. It’s also safe for Fungal Acne, but still contains PEG.

IF YOU HAVE FUNGAL-ACNE, ‘BE FRIENDS’ WITH THESE INGREDIENTS

SULFUR

Known for its antifungal and antibacterial properties, you’ll easily find this ingredient in the treatment for acne and such. If you can stand its’ distinct scent, that’s great, because it does work to get rid of fungal acne.

PROPOLIS

I read in simpleskincarescience.com that there are studies that showed that propolis extract exhibits antimicrobial activity. And I love how propolis does give a glowing effect on skin.

KETOCONAZOLE

Unfortunately, this ingredient mostly came in a shampoo form. But no worries, you can use this shampoo as a 5 minutes wash-off face mask. Compared to other antifungals, like Zinc Pyrithione, Ketoconazole is the champ.

TEA TREE OIL

Tea tree oil has strong antimicrobial properties against Malassezia aka fungal acne. Personally, I tried to stay away from the oil per se, just because I found it too thick and might irritate my sensitive skin. So I chose product that actually contains one (it’s diluted with other ingredients).

MY 1st SKINCARE HAUL IN 2019

Happy New Year, folks! This will be my first short blog post in 2019, so here we go…

If you follow my IG, you’ll know that I just got back from year-end family holiday in Hong Kong. Other than lots of culinary adventures, trip to drugstores are a must for me, too. Mind me, this is not a review post, just want to share what my haul are from the trip, including some transit haul (I just love Changi Airport-especially Watsons in T3 for fast shopping). Enjoy!
