FEBRUARY 2022 HAUL & LIFE UPDATE

Quick life update: yours truly might be a bit slow to blog in the near future (but I’ll try my best, so hang with me, please). I’m fine and healthy, thanks for asking. But when they said that life can change in the blink of an eye, they are not kidding. What you thought you would do for the rest of your life, might not be. And what you thought would not happened in a zillion years, might be. No worries, mine is going to the right and steady directions. I took a leap of faith, exiting my freelance life to go back to corporate life. May the force be with me, and with you who also experiencing this in 2022. We can do this!!! MAYBELLINE LASH SENSATIONAL SKY HIGH MASCARA

Not available officially in Indonesia yet (hopefully soon), so I bought this from a trusted online shop. Yes, they win again at this mascara. I believe they have two versions: Waterproof and Washable. Mine is the Waterproof ones.

EMINA BARE WITH ME MINERAL MILD FOUNDATION

This is a local brand targeted for teenagers, actually. But I’m impressed that they have mineral foundation. I rarely wear foundation these days, but if I have to, I’d prefer something like this, mineral (to avoid clogged pores) and light ones. Since it’s local, of course it’s super affordable.

REVLON SUPER LUSTROUS LIPSTICK

I read in Temptalia that this Blushing Nude shade is a dupe for Hourglass Ultra Slim High Intensity Lipstick (shade “If Only”). I love the color and the satin finish when first applied. Unfortunately after awhile, it might turn flaky if you don’t blot. So make sure, you blot, then it should be fine.

EAU THERMALE AVENE TOLERANCE EXTREME EMULSION

The only skincare product I purchased this month. If you’ve been following me, you’d probably know that I love French’ drugstores brands. This is one of the best moisturizer that I’ve ever tried (obviously not my first purchase), minimal ingredients, hydrates, soothes and moisturizes with all the right ingredients. It’s also very safe for fungal acne.

SISTER ANN DOUBLE EFFECT WATERPROOF EYELINER

K-beauty eyeliner that I’ve bought out of curiosity. Actually I already have a local favorite which never smudge when used as an inner-eyeliner, but yeah I just want to give this a try.

HATOMUGI SKIN CONDITIONER

The most affordable hydrating toner one can possibly get. Since I’ve been doing CSM religiously due to my current dry and sensitive skin state, I need one big bottle that does the job. It contains Job’s Tear Extract aka some form of Barley, which is high in vitamin B3 aka Niacin. And barley is known to soothe and moisturize skin, helping to promote the replenishment of the skin’s protective barrier too. Yes, I love my barley as much as I love my oat.

SIMPLE MICELLAR FACIAL GEL WASH

If you need a good and affordable deep cleansing facial wash, without upsetting your dry and sensitive skin, this is your best bet. And yes, it is also safe for Fungal-Acne. Now the Water Boost range from Simple is available in our local drugstore (yeay!) and sometimes they go on special price too.

BARRY M NAIL PAINTS

I bought the Gelly Hi Shine Nail Paint before, and I was impressed by the fast drying performance, the gel-effect result and its’ easy to manage brush. But, the con is: it doesn’t last that long (4 days max). So, I decided to buy another range, another shade and their base+top coat.

PYUNKANG YUL MIST TONER

This is not my first purchase, I repurchase because it’s a very simple toner with super minimal ingredients. It’s not viscous, doesn’t have fragrance in it and I use this for CSM. Though it’ll be great if they change the sprayer, because it doesn’t spray evenly.

COSRX HYDRIUM WATERY TONER & COSRX TRIPLE HYALURONIC MOISTURE AMPOULE

Some people can’t tolerate Hyaluronic Acid, maybe because I believe it works better on hot and humid climate. Fortunately, HA is safe on my oily and fungal-acne prone skin. I wish that I found these two sooner, as both works well together for optimal skin hydration.

GARNIER MICELLAR CLEANSING WATER 
If you’ve been following me long enough on this blog, you’d know that I love my Bioderma, but it’s quite pricey comparing to this affordable one from Garnier. This pink version is made for normal to sensitive skin, so I chose this one to purchase for the first time ever. Let me know if you want a comparison review with Bioderma ones.

SILCOT MAXIMIZER COTTON
I believe this was my second purchase of this cotton pads. I don’t use it to apply toner to wipe. But these are very good if you do CSM (Chizu Saeki Method). It can contain the toner long enough to hydrate while masking away with CSM. Frankly speaking, I don’t use this method frequently, just when I feel my skin is irritated or need extra loving care.

LIESE CREAMY BUBBLE COLOR
During pandemic, I DIY my hair color, because doing it in salon will take more than 2 hours indoor and it’s quite pricey. This brand is from KAO, produced in Japan and claimed to be number one hair coloring in Japan. Now available officially in Indonesia, so it’s relatively affordable. Easy to spread, because it comes in a bubbly foam texture, but I don’t recommend this if you want to cover gray hair.

ROUND LAB 1025 DOKDO TONER
Instead of using the real sea water to treat acne, like people on TikTok (seriously??!!), this toner contains sea water that has been processed specifically for skin. It also contains panthenol to reduce irritation and allantoin (which I personally prefer than Centella Asiatica) to soothe the skin, especially acne prone skin.

S NATURE AQUA SQUALANE WRINKLE MOISTURIZING CREAM
Impressive ingredients list for a complete skin barrier moisturizer. Two of the top fives are squalane which acts as emollient, and glycerin as humectant. Because I try to save lately, I opt for a moisturizer which have both humectant and emollient in it, so I don’t have to purchase two separate moisturizers for my night time routine (FYI, I skip moisturizer step in the morning to prevent maskne).

MISSHA AQUA SUN GEL SPF50+ PA++++
If you’ve been following me long enough, you’d know that I love my SkinAqua sunscreen. Time to try something new, which relatively easier to find locally. It is categorized as chemical sunscreen, with glacial water as one of the hero ingredient. Yes, it still contains Alcohol Denat and Silica (which can be drying for some), but I do like the matte effect on my oily skin.

Bought two face mists this month. That’s all.

EAU THERMALE AVÈNE THERMAL SPRING WATER
I believe this is a must have for every sensitive skin. Some of you might think it’s just expensive water, well it’s not. It has this unique composition that is proven by studies to calm, soothe and soften the skin. Personally I use this after I workout, before I put on mask to prevent maskne, and to dampen the skin before applying moisturizer with humectant. A daily essential worth every mist.

HADA LABO GOKUJYUN ULTIMATE MOISTURIZING FACE MIST
I used to love their Mild Peeling Lotion, and I’m excited to try this mist. No fragrance, no alcohol, no colorant, very minimal ingredients (five to be exact). It does come in a petite 50ml bottle, so I guess it’d be finish in no time, since I’m very generous with face mist these days.

Did I splurge on my birthday month? I wish, but I did not.

EGO QV FACE OIL FREE MOISTURISER
A gentle moisturiser that contains vitamin B3 and pro-vitamin B5. I believe this is great for day moisturiser as it claims to minimise shine. It contains Glycerin, therefore this act as a humectant. I purchased this on market place, since it’s not available locally here in Indonesia.

LA ROCHE-POSAY TOLERIANE SENSITIVE FLUIDE
Yes, another oil-free moisturiser. This one is formulated with a high concentration of prebiotic thermal spring water for a double repair action of the skin barrier. This is not cheap, but it hydrates and moisturize at the same time, because of the humectant (glycerin) and emollient (Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride) ingredients inside this tiny bottle. I also purchased this on market place, since it’s not available yet in Indonesia.

EGO QV GENTLE WASH
No pun intended, but I just realized I bought skincare products this month with Glycerin in each ingredients’ list. And the second EGO QV brand that I purchased, but this one is available in our local drugstores (tip: buy when on promo). If only they carry the 1kg ones, I’d buy it in a heartbeat, since I use this for my body.

JULY 2021 SKINCARE HAUL

July is a month of another reset, as the city I live in (Jakarta, Indonesia) was on its’ worst cases of Covid-19. It was like going back to square one when the global pandemic hits, so this month is definitely a #stayathome month for me (again). I just realized, maybe due to stress, this month’s purchase were like due to curiosity rather than what my skin actually needs. Oh well, I’m only human after all. FYI, by the time I wrote this, I’m into SKINIMALISM (more on that on later posts, so stay tune!), so I don’t know what to do with my earlier purchases.

Anyway, here’s my skincare haul this month.

NIVEA SOOTHING CLEANSING OIL

Mmmm…. after I bought this in early July, I became to wonder, do I really need to double cleanse with oil since I’m not wearing any makeup? I guess I bought this just because I want to try cleansing oil with Grape Seed Oil, known to have high Linoleic Acid (which is supposedly great for oily skin). Might keep this for later if I start using makeup again (but when is that going to happen?)

GALLINÉE FACE VINEGAR

Definitely splurge of the month, and yet another products purchased due to curiosity. I used to drink Apple Cider Vinegar/ACV, but my family couldn’t stand the smell, so I quit (LOL). I guess it had me because it contains hibiscus-infused ACV and prebiotics to support the skin microbiome.

KEEP COOL SOOTHE BAMBOO TONER

Another toner in my basket this month, and I was thinking to skip toners for my new SKINIMALISM routine. Just great! Maybe I use this for CSM later on, because of its’ soothing purpose. This hydrating toner contains 85% bamboo extract which supposedly helps skin retain moisture and freshness.

JUNE 2021 SKINCARE HAUL

Sharing you my skincare haul from iHerb, this was the first ever I bought from them. I’m a happy customer, because they already fixed the taxes and my order arrived exactly 10 days as promised. 

DIFFERIN DAILY DEEP CLEANSER 
Since my skin can’t bare Benzoyl Peroxide when applied topically as spot treatment, this cleanser is a great alternative. Contains 5% of Benzoyl Peroxide, it’s also fragrance free.

PACIFICA KALE DETOX DEEP CLEANSING FACE WASH
Interesting list of Super Greens and its’ claim to detox the skin made me bought this. With Kale, Coconut Water (not oil), Clay and Aloe Vera, it’s formulated for oily & blemish prone skin types.

COS DE BAHA HP SERUM
As I’ve been investing on Vitamin B5 for intake, due to my massive breakouts, I’ve been searching for topical treatment. Glad to found this serum which contains 4% of Panthenol aka Vitamin B5 as their top 5 ingredients.

YVES ROCHER SEBO VEGETAL PURIFYING CLAY MASK
If you’ve been following my blog, you’d know that I’ve been using Clay Mask religiously to minimize my pores appearance. It contains Boreal Tea Powder to control shine, neutralize the appearance of imperfections and refine skin texture, without mineral oil, paraben and silicone.

YVES ROCHER SEBO PURE VEGETAL CHARCOAL MASK
Another wash-off mask that I purchased from Yves Rocher, it specifically made to unclog pores and fight blackheads with natural charcoal and salicylic acid. Same like the Clay Mask, it contains no mineral oil, paraben and silicone. By the way, this is also a non-hardening mask (same like the above).

BOTANICS ALL BRIGHT CLEANSING TONER
One of two skincare purchases from Boots that just opened last month here in Jakarta, Indonesia. Botanics is one of their home brand, known to use the power of plants. This toner contains hibiscus, known for its brightening properties and exfoliating flower acids to improve skin’s texture and radiance.

BOOTS GLOW PINEAPPLE GEL MOISTURISER
I love my gel moisturiser, and I’m so excited to try this. Obviously as the name stated, it contains pineapple extract, with glycerin and niacinamide. And good to know that this moisturiser is vegan.
