WHAT TO DO IF YOU ONLY HAVE ONE FULL DAY IN YOGYAKARTA?

Last week I had a very short trip to Yogyakarta with my colleagues at work. It was fun, considering the last time I went to Yogyakarta was about 10 years ago. It wasn’t even Yogyakarta, I went to Magelang for Thierry Mugler’s event, back then in my editors’ days.

I had no expectations at all, so I might say..I was quite surprised with this super short trip. Me and my colleagues decided to do culinary stuff and just chill with no ambitious itinerary. We stayed at Greenhost Boutique Hotel, a small hotel with a seriously instagramable lobby. Even when we arrived at night, it looks cool. This is an eco-friendly hotel, so expect no hand towels, and no hair dryer. If you tried to dry your hair with your own hair dryer, the electricity in your room will go down. And never mind the air conditioner, it wasn’t a cold chilly room. Expect: ‘room temperature’ temperature.

But, at least the room is clean, and the pillows are not smelly.

Since the breakfast is so-so at the hotel, we decided to try ViaVia. Within walking distance from the hotel, it was a small local bakery with decent brunch.

I’ve had better brunch, but I love the ambience in this bakery.

For lunch, we went to Gudeg Sagan. ‘Wet type’ gudeg which I love so much, with gravy and no msg. And their Beras Kencur is ‘da bomb’. These meals reminded me of my childhood, eating gudeg with my mom in Pasar Cikini, Jakarta.

While in Yogyakarta, we didn’t want to miss visiting Lulu Lutfi Labibi’s workshop in Kampung Pekaten. Even though we got lost on our first attempt, it was literally a beautiful kind of lost, as we went through this beautiful village with vintage houses.

Lulu is famous for his drapping lurik’s creation, so it was truly a sight for sore eyes visiting his boutique/workshop. And of course, his place is so instagramable!

To more affordable shopping place, we went to Lemari Lila. In this super tiny but cute boutique, I found a lurik outer for IDR400K only. And good to know, that they only created not more than 12 pieces for one design. So, bumping into others who wore the same thing is less likely.

Now, off for some coffee.

We went to Ruang Seduh for some decent coffee. They actually have the same coffee shop in Jakarta, which I like better, because they have more snacks and bigger/nicer space.

For dinner, we decided to go to this nice restaurant that we found accidentally when we strolled down the street back to the hotel. Mediterranea Restaurant, owned by French chef, Camille Massard Combe or well known as Chef Kamil. When we googled it, this restaurant turned out to be number one restaurant in Yogyakarta in trip advisor.

We were surprised because their prices are just super affordable for such a nice restaurant. They have this small shop which sells jam, bread etc, inside the restaurant, which reminds me a lot of Dean & Deluca. Must try if you’re visiting Yogyakarta.

For something to bring home, we bought Monggo Chocolate. They do have this brand in Jakarta, but in Yogyakarta, they are cheaper. I love their strawberry chocolate, but for those who are more adventurous, try their rendang or red chili chocolate!

One tip if you want to visit Yogyakarta: rent a car, so it’s easier to drive here and there.

See you in another travel posts!

TO CELEBRATE MY …. BIRTHDAY, I DID THIS!

My first BOTOX at Jakarta Aesthetic Clinic with the one and only dr. Olivia Ong, dipl. AAAM (Aesthetician and Anti-Aging Specialist).

And Botox was not the only procedure I had at dr. Olivia’s beautiful clinic. After consultation with her, apparently I need filler and rejuvenation. As I age (I’m not gonna tell you how old I am..lol), it’s not just the wrinkles I worried about, I looked tired as hell. See before after pics below.

Cheeks began to sag, dark circles got worse and turned out I did have bunny lines. And did you see how wide my nose was? And did you notice my chin got sucked in by age? A bit skeptical about the whole treatment, because I was worried about the post-effect. Turned out….that was me a week after the whole procedures. If you need more proof, check out the pics below…taken one day and two days after. Although dr. Olivia said that some swelling might occurred, I felt only a bit chubbier on the third day.

For Botox, results may vary…some will see improvement within days up to 30 days. But I might say, I’m impressed with my results. Botox were shot on my forehead, both sides of nose, chin and bunny lines.

Another before after pics after my second visit..my chin looked longer and my nose looked slimmer. And lots of improvement on my dark circles.

If you asked me “was it painful?” I’d answer “beauty is pain, darling”. I wouldn’t lie to you, but botox shots are nothing compared to filler. But no worries, dr. Olivia and team will make you feel at ease. First, the application of anaesthetic cream aka numb cream on the specific areas that will be treated.

Noticed the brown oil below? It named “amazing oil”. And..it lived up to the name. I believe it kept the redness at bay.

Compressed with amazing oil after the treatment. I have to admit, the one that hurt the most was the chin area, filled with filler. Dr. Olivia used Restylane filler to fill my under eyes and chin. More than just shaping, filler also made my skin more plump and tight.

Voila!!!! That was my latest pic after about 2 weeks. My skin looks better, overall result: I have fresher & slimmer face on my … birthday (still not gonna tell..lol).

Will these results last forever? Unfortunately, not. Botox & filler need different touch up sessions. For more information about Jakarta Aesthetic Clinic, please click here.

BEAUTY WEEKEND ESCAPE

Thanks to Menard and Marie Claire for a Saturday well-spent.

Me and fellow influencers were invited to a Beauty Weekend Escape at Fairmont Hotel, Jakarta, to experience the whole new range of New SARANARI from MENARD. The former Saranari line was created in Japan in 1984, and this new range is carrying a new formula & scent. Known as the queen of the lilies, they extracted Casa Blanca Lilies small young buds which just sprouted, to create skin care for beautiful skin.

Me and fellow influencers were treated by a facial to experience the New Saranari range, followed by a nice brunch at Peacock Lounge.

This was my second time of Menard Facial and I always enjoy them. The massage, the hot towel, the mask, it was a delightful facial.

After the facial, we were given a change to redo our makeup with bunch of Menard makeup.

At the event, I discovered the fact that skin quality differs depending on the part of the body. Skin of inner arm and skin of face are pretty much different, due to sun exposure. Of course, the best quality of skin is on our inner arm. Check out the very much difference on mine.

After the skin check using Menard Total Beauty Adviser (which available on Seibu Grand Indonesia and Sogo Central Park, Jakarta), they recommended me to do massage every night with Saranari Refresh Massage. Things that I rarely do, but I will after I saw the result.

As you can see, my skin texture is just average (cry). Need to boost the level of moisture with the help of Menard Saranari. They recommended me to check again after 3 months, so I will update on this. Wish me luck.
