REVIEW: MAYBELLINE NEW YORK INSTANT AGE REWIND ERASER

Hi Folks! Sorry for such a long hiatus. I’m back as full-time worker, so I have limited time to blog. One of the positive side of going back to work is applying makeup. And here’s one of my current favorite concealer, because it’s also proven to be safe for fungal acne.

Mine is shade 120 Light, and actually I’ve used this before. This concealer is unique, it comes with the cushion applicator. If you’ve been following me, you’d know that I don’t use foundation as a base, instead I use concealer on just some part of my face. But in this specific post, I’d show you the concealer effect on under eyes.

If you noticed, I only applied this on inner and outer corners of my eyes. Why? This is a trick that I’ve learned watching Wayne Goss’ YT, to avoid creasing under eyes, especially for aging skin. And talking about aging, this concealer is not just a coverage concealer per se, it is infused with goji berry Haloxyl. It is an anti-aging concealer, and because it does have a light texture, it doesn’t sit on lines and crease-resistant. Try using setting mist before applying concealer to set, instead of using setting powder that will increase the chance of getting creased under eyes.

Before concealer
After concealer (no setting powder), as you might noticed, lines and dark circles are sort of erased naturally
Final look with eyes makeup

I hope my pictures do the rest of this review. See you on another post (hopefully soon).

Wear test, it still didn’t crease under the eyes (mind the grease-ball look)

DON’T BE A FOOL WHEN IT COMES TO MAKEUP

On this April Fools’ Day, I’m going to share my Holy Grail when it comes to fool-proof makeup.

In my own term, fool-proof means practical yet it stands against Jakarta’s weather (which become more hot and humid these days).

In alphabetical order:
– Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Powder Duo : as natural as real brows, I hate fake looking brows which created by some pencil.

– Bobbi Brown Concealer : it concealed well without cracking and works magically for that zit coverage.

– Chanel Les 4 Ombres Quadra Eyeshadow : palette of fun, just mix and blend to create any looks I desired.

– Guerlain Meteorites Pearls : for that radiant finish which somehow made my makeup seem more natural.

–  MAC Cosmetics Studio Fix Powder Plus Foundation : let me tell you a little secret: once a beauty brand PR from other brand which also carried cosmetics line, bought this without hesitation. Need I say more?

– Maybelline New York Volum’ Express One by One Mascara : the chubby tube and brush at it’s best. No clumps when applied, no smudges while sweating.

– NARS Satin Lip Pencil : it lines, it fills, it doesn’t crack, it stays on.

– The Body Shop All In One Blusher : no need to touch up during day time, as its’ extra fine powder blended well and stay there until you wipe it off.

FINISH WHAT I STARTED

First empties of 2013.

1.    KIEHL’S MIDNIGHT RECOVERY CONCENTRATE

Not just an ordinary night serum, it’s the core of pure essential oils which I believe make my skin looks better over night. The clear oil texture might be a bit hard to absorb as it left a filmy layer on skin, that’s why one drop is enough for the whole face and one extra drop for neck area. Smell like lavender, the droplets bottle was great to use when it’s full, but hard to get when almost empty. Repurchase? Yes, it does last longer than I thought, so good price for the 30ml bottle night serum.

2.    FRESH BLACK TEA AGE-DELAY FACE SERUM

Is it just me? I believe in natural products, I really do. But, I believe most of them took longer to show their results. As an instant believer on almost everything (right down to coffee in the morning, yup, I’m that awful), this face serum didn’t show any result after I finished the whole bottle. Maybe the second bottle will do? Repurchase? Not sure, as Fresh is not available in my home town, anyway.

3.    MAYBELLINE NEW YORK THE ONE BY ONE VOLUM’ EXPRESS WATERPROOF MASCARA

The bright pink tube attracted me and the brush wand amazed me. It really did what it said, separating eye lashes one by one. It didn’t clump when it was newly opened but getting drier when it was almost finish. Repurchase? Yup.

4.    URBAN DECAY EYESHADOW PRIMER POTION

One of my ever lasting favorite product. It didn’t dry out until the last attempt, and make eye shadows stay put all day until I take it off. Considering that I have oily eye lids, it made them more matte and the colors of my eye shadows appeared more intense. Repurchase? Definitely.

5.    TRISH MCEVOY EYE BASE ESSENTIALS

I wish I could say the same about this eye shadow primer as well. Although I might say that it made my eye shadows stay put and looking matte, but the texture is too thick, it was hard to blend. And, it dried out too quickly before the whole tube is finished. Repurchase? No.
