A GLIMPSE FROM JAKARTA FASHION WEEK 2013: DAY 3

Sponsored by Samsung, two of the very talented Indonesian designers, Auguste Soesastro and Oscar Lawalata presented their collection for Spring Summer 2013.

Auguste went first showing his signature style: clean, structured, simple with basic colors that so ready to wear. Being as humble and simple as he is, he even let the model went free without fake eyelashes. Wow, there’s always the first time for something, right?

As for Oscar, he’s really into art deco and it showed in his line which seems to be focused in the constructive pattern with geometric design. Using materials such as tule, wool, cotton and our very own, batik, his collection is attractively modern.

Day 2: It was raining pretty hard today, but the show must go on…

including Grazia Glitz and Glam which featured one brand created by a very good friend of mine, Iwet Ramadhan, called Tik Shirt.

His strong passion of batik, are well translated to more modern and young way of style. I love how he injected modern details to every look and how batik were formed to resemble tulip skirts. I’m sharing you my pics from the backstage above. Enjoy.

TOP 10 LOOKS LIE SANG BONG

Previously, I’ve post an introduction about Lie Sang Bong, the Korean fashion designer, here: http://shintarosvita.tumblr.com/post/32784031344/an-ode-to-jakarta-fashion-week-be-prepared-as

As eccentric as he is in person, he’s wearing black long cape, pink shirt and black tie with printed butterflies on it when I saw him during the press conference, same thing I can say about his design at the first show of Jakarta Fashion Week 2013. A big bang of colors, butterflies and houndstooth are gracing his runway. Can you tell that he’s known to mix eastern and western influences from this top 10 looks?

TOP 10 LOOKS SEBASTIAN GUNAWAN

Those patchwork’s like details are actually stones cut so into a 3 mm. So it really mimics a thick grey paper, but it is a vinyl stone usually used for furniture purpose. Sebastian Gunawan, one of the best Indonesian designer ever, called them Nano Stone.

Inspired by women, beautiful like flowers and tough like stone, voila! Beautiful and gorgeous collection, with lots of pretty and well thought designs. See my pictures (taken with my lovely husband’s DSLR) and see if you agree with me.

PLANNING IS EVERYTHING

Jakarta Fashion Week is coming next week, November 3, 2012 to be exact. And I am preparing, mentally and physically to attend those busy week full of industry schmoozing and networking.

As I don’t want to rush like a mad woman before any shows, I already planned the whole outfit for the week. First, I’ll share my shoes collection. Yes, there’s some high heels involved, but I think I’m going to change throughout the day, even though I can practically run in my heels (proven!). So, I’m counting on my wedges and flats to keep me comfortable during the busy week. I’ll keep you posted on the whole outfit.

AN ODE TO JAKARTA FASHION WEEK

Be prepared, as the main fashion week in Indonesia is coming soon. Jakarta, are you ready to be rocked by the Korean storm once more?

Empty your schedule for one of the most awaited event by the darlings of Jakarta fashionistas, November 3 – 9, 2012. To celebrate the opening of this annually premiere fashion event in Indonesia, Lie Sang Bong, one of the top designers from Seoul, Korea will present his collections with Indonesian top designer, Sebastian Gunawan.

Originally from Korea, he’s quickly accepted as part of new generation of designers from Paris fashion scene since he moved there in 2002. Creatively combines the elegance of French Fashion with his Korean roots, his trademark is the architectural shape. Mostly ready to wear collections, Lie counts Lady Gaga and Rihanna as fans.

Let’s take a look at his Fall 2012 Collection, which shown on the last day of Paris Fashion Week earlier this year. Eclectic set of dresses, jackets, covered with polka dots from materials like feather, fur and leather. Above the models questionable make up on the runway, the whole collection represented the creative fusion of culture and art with his well known geometrical shapes.

Personally I can’t wait to see Lie’s collection for the opening of Jakarta Fashion Week 2013. Just a tiny sneak peek for his Spring 2013 collection which titled “Nostalgia”. It features retro elements and personal memories which incorporated with Lie’s avant garde style. See his sketch and some of his collection above.

Hopefully, I’ll be reporting live from the venue at JFW 2013. So, stay tune for more.
