FUNGAL-ACNE SAFE FACE & BODY CARE

Unlike 2in1 products that I don’t trust (like shampoo and conditioner in one), I do believe in double-function face and body care. Especially when they’re fungal acne safe.

Here are some of them that I’ve tried:

VELY VELY PINK CALMING GEL
It’s perfect to use after our skin are heated by UV for its’ soothing and cooling purposes. It also contains pink colored microbeads from Calamine powder, that soothes tired & damaged skin. So, the microbeads are mixed with clear gel and will burst once applied onto skin. Not only great for cooling, soothing and moisturizing, this is also good for strengthening skin barrier (thanks to allantoin as one of their ingredients too).

DERMA 365 GENTLE CLEANSER
I’m happy that this brand from Australia is now available in my local drugstore. As it is a gentle cleanser for all skin types, it’s mildly soothing and helps to prevent dehydration. For those who are prone to clogged pores like me, no fret, this is non-comedogenic and free from stuffs like soap, colourant, fragrance, paraben, lanolin, mineral oil, SLS and SLES. If you’re having maskne problem, I recommend this gentle cleanser to avoid any irritation on skin. Good luck of finding this on your local Indonesian drugstores, kind of hard to get here.

CETAPHIL MOISTURIZING LOTION
Another non-comedogenic moisturizer, lightweight and easy to absorb. It contains six moisturizers, plus vitamin E and B5, for long lasting hydration. Because it comes in a lotion texture, of course it’s heavier than Vely Vely ones. Dryer skin will enjoy this more, and I’m enjoying this as my daily body lotion as I hate fragranced body lotion (especially the ones that smells like fruits) and it contains Macadamia Nut Oil which might not be that great for acne.

OVER EXFOLIATED SKIN: WHAT HAPPENED & WHAT TO DO

Well, they didn’t say too much of everything will kill you for nothing.

I had angry skin issue before (click here for the post), so this one is another round of angry skin (read: over exfoliated skin).

So, what the heck happen? Obviously, I was too excited with my recent haul: new acid products, and konjac sponge. Too excited, I use them every morning. To added to the worsen condition, I still apply my exfoliating toner, Biologique Recherche Lotion P50T every night. So yeah, my skin is super angry and over exfoliated for sure!

These are lethal combination, when use all together, everyday.
Angry red spots, white heads, cystic acnes. Oh well!

First sign of over exfoliated skin: redness, dryness, and it stings whenever you apply something on it.

What I’ve learned:

  • Stick to one acid and do it every other day, NOT EVERYDAY!
  • Add skin calming and healing products to my regime.
  • Doing toner masking with oat will help a lot!

So, what would I do to save my over exfoliated skin? One, stay away from any exfoliating products for two weeks or at least until healed completely. Two, using gentle products that will restore skin’s natural epidermal barrier. Here’s all the products that I use currently for my over exfoliated skin.

URIAGE EAU THERMALE CLEANSING CREAM: it’s a soap-free cleanser, with 1/3 nourishing milk and Thermal Water. This protects skin against the drying effects of hard water.

LA ROCHE POSAY SEROZINC: I’m skipping exfoliating toner and hydrating toner for now. Instead, I use this face mist as a toner. It does help to soothe irritation and inflamed skin, and as a bonus it keeps my oily skin balanced.

COSRX ADVANCED SNAIL 96 MUCIN POWER ESSENCE: it contains 96% of snail secretion filtrate, known for super intense repair and hydration. And snail mucin has that repair ability purpose, so I’m loving this.

VELY VELY PINK CALMING GEL: this is actually a face & body moisturizer. It contains pink microbeads from Calamine powder, known for its’ ability to soothe tired and damage skin.

As I’ve experienced this before, I’m positive that it’ll be back to a tip top condition in about two weeks. So, I’m going to update you on this matter. Meanwhile, I’m going to take care of my skin the way it should be. Cheers!

UPDATE ON MY FUNGAL-ACNE SAFE SKINCARE ROUTINE (PART TWO: PM ROUTINE)

After my update on AM Routine last week, here’s the second one, PM Routine. Please note that they’re all also fungal-acne safe (based on skincarisma.com checking).

Avene 3 in 1 Makeup Remover (I don’t understand why they put in quite a strong fragrance into this one, luckily it’s safe for me).

Purito Defence Barrier pH Cleanser (this is my second tube, and I love the clear gel texture that made my skin feels super clean but not tight).

Biologique Recherche Lotion p50T (don’t buy this if you are super sensitive to vinegar scent. It really smells like one and the price is out of this world. But worth every single drop).

I’m From Mugwort essence. (I skip hydrating toner, and go straight to essence. But still, I will layer up to five times depends on how sleepy I am, LOL. For the last layer, I mixed with Paula’s Choice 10% Niacinamide Booster to avoid stickiness).

Drunk Elephant Glycolic Night Serum (only on acne days, and only on the spots).

Mad Hippie Vitamin C Serum (my new favorite serum. I use this on areas that need to brighten, like around the nose and lips, and some newly formed acne scars).

Vely Vely Pink Calming Gel (this is my first ever face and body moisturizer. At first, I was hesitant to put it on my face. So I tried it on my neck. It didn’t cause any break out, so I decided to apply it on my face, too. It did what it claimed: soothing & calming. And I love the pink gel with pink microbeads in it).
