A GLIMPSE FROM JAKARTA FASHION WEEK 2013: DAY 5

Proofs that batik can look edgy, energetic and futuristic. Featuring Iwan Amir, Lulu Lutfi Labibi and Sischset Detta, Erasmus Huis presented “Revival of Batik Belanda”.

Batik Belanda is still Batik by us, Indonesian, but the motives are influenced by the Dutch. Back in the very old days (Dutch colonial era), many Dutch fell in love with batik, therefore they created a special pattern, mostly flowers. And they injected the brighter colors too.

It was refreshing to see Batik Belanda by the three young designers from Indonesia, as each of them came up with their own uniqueness.

A GLIMPSE FROM JAKARTA FASHION WEEK 2013: DAY 4

In partnership with Estetica Indonesia Magazine, L’Oreal Professionnel presented a hair show today with theme “Retro Nouveau”.

With the help of three designers, Hian Tjen, Soko Wiyanto and Yogi Pratama, for the dresses at the hair show, L’Oreal Professionnel which responsible for all models hair-do’s at Jakarta Fashion Week 2013, was bringing back the classic color of retro era. The golden days of such beautiful actresses such as Brigitte Bardot and Elizabeth Taylor have inspired this French brand to create the whole hair color collection for Fall Winter 2012-2013. International hair colorist and hair dresser, Odile Gilbert and Jean-Jacques Doolaeghe created “Shadow Illusion” which reminds me of those Ombre hair trend with brighter hair tip and darker roots. Both created three color creation, named Siren Copper, Ingenue Blond and Vixen Violet.

Thanks to the L’Oreal Hairdresser Ambassador from Indonesia, Andy Lie, Arie S. Hidayat, Bambang Haryono, Irwan R. Doke and Lie Kuang, we can see the three creations interpretation on darker hair and skin tone which mostly Indonesian women have. It was an entertaining hair show with one of Indonesian superstar, Dewi Sandra had her hair styled on stage by Cristophe Gaillet, L’Oreal Professionnel Hairdresser Ambassador from Paris.

A GLIMPSE FROM JAKARTA FASHION WEEK 2013: DAY 3

Sponsored by Samsung, two of the very talented Indonesian designers, Auguste Soesastro and Oscar Lawalata presented their collection for Spring Summer 2013.

Auguste went first showing his signature style: clean, structured, simple with basic colors that so ready to wear. Being as humble and simple as he is, he even let the model went free without fake eyelashes. Wow, there’s always the first time for something, right?

As for Oscar, he’s really into art deco and it showed in his line which seems to be focused in the constructive pattern with geometric design. Using materials such as tule, wool, cotton and our very own, batik, his collection is attractively modern.

TOP 10 LOOKS LIE SANG BONG

Previously, I’ve post an introduction about Lie Sang Bong, the Korean fashion designer, here: http://shintarosvita.tumblr.com/post/32784031344/an-ode-to-jakarta-fashion-week-be-prepared-as

As eccentric as he is in person, he’s wearing black long cape, pink shirt and black tie with printed butterflies on it when I saw him during the press conference, same thing I can say about his design at the first show of Jakarta Fashion Week 2013. A big bang of colors, butterflies and houndstooth are gracing his runway. Can you tell that he’s known to mix eastern and western influences from this top 10 looks?

TOP 10 LOOKS SEBASTIAN GUNAWAN

Those patchwork’s like details are actually stones cut so into a 3 mm. So it really mimics a thick grey paper, but it is a vinyl stone usually used for furniture purpose. Sebastian Gunawan, one of the best Indonesian designer ever, called them Nano Stone.

Inspired by women, beautiful like flowers and tough like stone, voila! Beautiful and gorgeous collection, with lots of pretty and well thought designs. See my pictures (taken with my lovely husband’s DSLR) and see if you agree with me.
