Still in pandemic period, lots of stay at home, but grateful to make it safe and sound till the end of the year 2021. Yeay, we survived 2021, guys! Be grateful.
This will be a very short list, as I didn’t explore much this year, as my skin became more sensitive lately.
If you want to know what ingredients to avoid if you think you have Fungal Acne, and which products are safe to use, you can check this website.
Without further adieu, let’s see who made it to my short(er) list this year.
Just in case you’re wondering, all of these below are fungal acne safe. Rejoice!
YVES ROCHER SEBO VEGETAL PURIFYING CLAY MASK If you’ve been following my blog, you’d know that I’ve been using Clay Mask religiously to minimize my pores appearance. It contains Boreal Tea Powder to control shine, neutralize the appearance of imperfections and refine skin texture, without mineral oil, paraben and silicone. Price IDR189K for 75ml.
YVES ROCHER SEBO PURE VEGETAL CHARCOAL MASK Another wash-off mask that I purchased from Yves Rocher, it specifically made to unclog pores and fight blackheads with natural charcoal and salicylic acid. Same like the Clay Mask, it contains no mineral oil, paraben and silicone. By the way, this is also a non-hardening mask (same like the above). Price IDR 149K for 75ml.
BOTANICS ALL BRIGHT CLEANSING TONER One of two skincare purchases from Boots that just opened last month here in Jakarta, Indonesia. Botanics is one of their home brand, known to use the power of plants. This toner contains hibiscus, known for its brightening properties and exfoliating flower acids to improve skin’s texture and radiance. Price IDR149K for 250ml.
BOOTS GLOW PINEAPPLE GEL MOISTURISER I love my gel moisturiser, and I’m so excited to try this. Obviously as the name stated, it contains pineapple extract, with glycerin and niacinamide. And good to know that this moisturiser is vegan. Price IDR113K for 50ml.
If you’re familiar with their previous Chamomile line, Pure Calmille, this is the new version. A range of skincare for sensitive skin, with wild chamomile cultivated in their own La Gacilly organic fields. Even though it’s dedicated for sensitive skin, actually all skin types can use this range, especially when our skin reacted to certain stuffs.
You see, our skin condition might change due to climate, pollution, harsh products and hormonal. These things might also affect the skin’s barrier, thus make our skin reactive. Some might experienced itchiness, redness or tightness, basically all the feeling of discomfort. It’s great to know that this range will not only soothe skin when shitty things happened, but they will also strengthen our skin.
Being Yves Rocher, the packaging in this range is 100% recyclable plastic, and there are no artificial scent and colouring used. Yes, the cardboard is also recyclable. They didn’t waste anything from the chamomile, the flowers, leaves and stems are used to create these products. They use 98% natural ingredients, with 0% mineral oil, silicone, alcohol and fragrance.
OK, let’s start with the review!
THE CLEANSING OIL
Y’all know how I love to double cleanse, even though I’m not using makeup on daily basis, but I’m still using sunscreen. Somehow, I just feel cleaner when I use cleansing oil before moving on to second cleanser. The first ingredient on the list is Sunflower Seed Oil, a non-comedogenic carrier oil and known to be less irritating. There’s a hint of relaxing Chamomile scent, it glides easily and emulsified like most cleansing oils that I’ve tried. No slippery after-feel which I like, and it rinses easily.
THE MICELLAR WATER
Usually I use Micellar Water in the morning to wipe off all the night time skincare products on my face. However this is my personal preference. For fungal acne warrior, you’d be glad to know that based on the ingredients list on the packaging, it’s safe for fungal acne.
THE CLEANSING CREAM
Now, this is interesting. It’s not a foamy cleanser, mind you. But I believe this is great for dry cleansing technique. Apply on dry skin (I prefer to use this in the morning after Micellar Water), and massage for one minute, then rinse off with warm water. I always recommend to rinse cleanser with warm water to minimise the slippery after-feel.
THE SOOTHING LIGHT CREAM
It’s a moisturizer in a light texture with a hint of natural chamomile flowers’ fragrance. I thought it’s going to be more like a light lotion, but once I spread it, it’s more like a water-cream (disappear without a trace). Great for normal to oily skin due to its’ texture and absorb power. However, it’s not giving you that dead matte finish (if you’re expecting one).
THE NOURISHING COMFORT BALM
If you have normal to dry skin, you’ll love this moisturizer. They named this as a balm, but I did find the texture more like a thicker lotion. And I’m surprised how easy it absorbed on dry skin. It feels comfortable on dry skin and also gives a dewy effect.
THE CORRECTIVE GREEN CREAM
Another interesting product from this range. It is green in color, but they don’t use artificial color. Instead they used chlorophyll from Chamomile’s stems. This cream is like a tone-up cream, but instead of brightening the whole face, this will reduce and correct redness. I apply this on red spots only (usually around my nose and chin) in the morning on top of moisturizer and before sunscreen. I believe from all the products in this range, this one is more scented than the others.
Tough year for all, and lots of us wish for 2020 to end soon. But, does the end of 2020 means the end of the pandemic? Oh well ….
You will see a new list (different from 2018 and 2019 ones). However, there are some categories being left out (like makeup remover, essence, mask and spot treatment), just because I didn’t use them this year to cut cost and skincare steps. I also include some new local favourites, to support local Indonesian brands and economy as well.
Other cool website to check out and analyse your skincare ingredients is cosmily.com. Please note that some of the products below might still have triggers for comedones and not entirely allergen-free. So please check the ingredients that will suit your skin best.

Hope all of you are well. Here where I live, in Jakarta, Indonesia, currently there’s no lockdown for now, but most of us are following the Stay-At-Home advice due to Corona Virus Outbreak.
Anyway, I’ve been a stay at home mom every now and then, so I have no problem with this, kinda enjoy it. But, I can imagine for those who are not, you might be bored as hell. Well, I hope my tips below will help.
WHAMISA ORGANIC FLOWERS TONER
7 SKIN METHOD. Yes, those toner layering stuff. Back in my working days, I didn’t have time to layer my toner until 7 layers. But now, I do enjoy layering them and taking my time in between layers.
TRILOGY ROSAPENE NIGHT CREAM
NECK CARE. While we are busy taking care of our face, we should not, and I repeat, should not neglect our neck skin care. Personally I love to slather night cream as an additional step on my PM skincare routine for neck.
FOREO LUNA 3
DIY FACIAL. Personally, I’m not a big fan of facial at beauty clinic because most of them involve comedo extractions that can cause more damage on my skin. I prefer to do it my self at home, with my own skin care and my latest purchase, FOREO Luna 3 to massage.
FREEMAN MASKS & CREMORLAB OXYGEN PEELING MASK
MULTI MASKING. Those were the days that we didn’t have the time to apply multiple masks on one face. But now, that we have all the time in the world, let’s do this! It’s the perfect timing & opportunity to treat different areas with different needs at the same time.
RATED GREEN & YVES ROCHER
DIY HAIR TREATMENT. Now that we are doing social distancing, it’s impossible to have hair treatment in the hair salon as much as we want to. So, why don’t we do it ourselves? Sure you can’t have the delightful hair massage, but you can apply hair mask, put a cap on and let it be while you’re eating hot instant noodle and watching TV at the same time.
DERMA ROLLER
DERMAROLLING. I do recommend this, especially for those who have deep acne scars. For beginners, try the lowest needle depth (0,25mm) to see if your skin can tolerate it. I did a post on how to do dermarolling, please click here.
READ BEAUTY BOOKS. Running out of Netflix ideas? Well, there are books. These are the best time to finish reading them. Don’t let them collect dusts, and I prefer to read these rather than reading many hoax about Corona Virus in Social Media, or ignorant people that still unaware of the danger of this virus (people, please).
LAVE
TEETH POLISHING. The natural way, that is. Personally I use this charcoal powder, that reminds me a lot of the more expensive ones.
BRUSH CLEANING. Admit it, when was the last time you wash them? Now that we don’t have to put on makeup to go out, don’t you think it’s time to let those brushes rest in clean state?
CLEAN UP VANITY. Never a better timing to toss away expired beauty products, or that lipstick shades that never been worn for more than a year. Clean and organized vanity will sparks joy (and add more space for new ones later), for sure!
First of
all, congrats for 60th anniversary of Yves Rocher. Do you know that
this French beauty brand is using 100% botanicals extracts and has 1100
ingredients of natural ingredients in their portfolio? And lately, they’re
continuously developing an eco-design approach, too. So they have been
decreasing their consumption of non-raw materials and using recyclable
materials for their packaging. Beauty that does good, me likey!
Thanks to
C&F Store that sent me this naturally beautiful PR Kit to celebrate the
brand’s 60th anniversary. Inside the kit, there are some products
that I’ve been using and only one that I’ve not tried before. Let’s break them
down one by one, shall we?
CONCENTRATED SHOWER GEL – MANGO CORIANDER
CWhy
concentrated? Because you don’t need that much to actually make foams and
cleanse your body. They claim that this 100ml bottle will last us for 40
showers. It is pH balanced, preservative and paraben free. Personally, I love
the small recyclable plastic bottle, very practical for traveling purpose. This
is my second bottle already, and I love how it also made my bathroom smells
fruity like mango after I showered.
CONCENTRATED SHAMPOO
CThis
concentrated 100ml format will last for 30 shampoos. I love the fact that it is
colorant and silicone free. And the fresh scent that long lasting. But I warn
you, you might need conditioner afterward, especially if you have medium to
long hair. It might give you tangled hair.
RINSING VINEGAR
RThis shall
be use at the very last step of your shampooing business. It contains raspberry
vinegar (don’t worry it actually smells more like raspberry than ordinary
vinegar), known for its’ hair smoothing properties and reducing build-up (from
haircare or hairstyling products). I believe this is my third bottle already, I
love how it made my hair shinier and smells better longer. Yes, if there’s one
vinegar that actually can make you smell good, this is the one!
CLEANSING MICELLAR OIL
If you have no fungal-acne problem, you will love this. It contains Isopropyl Palmitate and Sunflower Seed Oil which noted as Fungal-Acne trigger on skincarisma.com. Other than that, it is actually colorant free, mineral oil free and paraben free. And it contains pure organic chamomile extract, renowned for its soothing, softening and hydrating properties. This silky but non-greasy oil will transform into a milky fluid in contact with water and help to dissolve makeup.
In Indonesia, you can get Yves Rocher’s products in C&F stores or buy online here.
They already had me at their claim: No Silicone, No Mineral Oil, No Paraben and Tested on Asian skin.
Three products were sent to me by the good people at Yves Rocher Indonesia: LIGHTENING SLEEPING MASK, EXCEPTIONAL TONER, EXCEPTIONAL YOUTH CREAM. Their two hero ingredients: White Licorice Powder with its’ lightening power and White Lupin extract with its’ anti-aging power, said to offer uniformity and youthfulness.
Here’s my review:
EXCEPTIONAL TONER Clear with no viscosity. This comes with a quite a strong scent when first applied, but that scent will disappear soon. I applied this with cotton pad as recommended on the bottle, and check out the dirt it picked up! I am impressed, even though this is not an exfoliating toner.
EXCEPTIONAL YOUTH CREAM This is a night cream. Comes with a recyclable glass jar with plastic cap. Among all three products, this one has the lightest scent. I applied this after toner to hydrate skin at night time. I kind of enjoy the whipped cream texture that instantly melts on the skin.
LIGHTENING SLEEPING MASK To seal all the hydration while we were sleeping. Texture like gel, therefore it absorb really well. I do wish the scent would be lighter, though, as I’m used to scentless sleeping mask. And this contains licorice, which is known to calm sensitive skin. I use this as the very last step on PM skincare routine.
CONCLUSION I believe this range is good for drier skin, with problems like dark spots and fine lines. Those with sensitive skin, please be aware that these are fragranced. Patch test is always recommended.
I used to have a very simple haircare routine, shampoo & conditioner. But with this expansive world of beauty, when they keep on creating new regime, of course I want to keep up.
Enter: YVES ROCHER RINSING VINEGAR.
FYI, Yves Rocher is a very affordable French brand with a lot of range for personal beauty products. And this Rinsing Vinegar is actually not the latest haircare regime invention. People have been using apple cider vinegar as a final rinse to help clean scalp and hair from product build up. But as you know it, apple cider vinegar smells like stinky feet. LOL.
Yves Rocher Rinsing Vinegar used organically-grown Raspberry, which off course smell like sweet not acid berries. So what did it claim to do? It promised to add shine to the hair fiber, and bring back beautifully radiant hair.
As my hair had been curled & colored too many times, and I shampoo everyday, my hair does look dull and unhealthy. Since it’s very hard to find clarifying shampoo to wash product build up in my hometown, I’m so happy that I stumbled upon this product. Because it’s vinegar, the texture is watery and not foamy. So be careful when pouring it as the final rinse after you shampooed and conditioned your hair. Yup, use this as the final haircare regime in the shower, because it’s not a leave on. Yes, you have to rinse this away after you applied all over your hair & scalp. As I have very oily scalp, I concentrate more on scalp. It did make my hair & scalp feel cleaner and look shiny. I used it once a week, and that raspberry scent did last long. Overall, I’m satisfied with the performance of this product and thank goodness now it came in big size (400ml). But if you want to try first, they have smaller size (150ml).
