ANOTHER WAY TO CELEBRATE BRAZIL
If you’re not into football and that FIFA World Cup thingy, the new collection from L’Occitane is a great way to put a colorful mood of Brazil for your body care regime.
Feito no Brasil (made in Brazil) was born by L’Occitane founder, Olivier Baussan’s trip to Brazil. Not just the craze of Brazil, but also the artists, musicians, spices, perfumes & flowers. Two new ingredients was picked for this new range of body care products, JENIPAPO (fruit tree from Cerrado) and VITORIA REGIA (giant water lily from Amazone). Thanks to Brazil illustrators, Andres Sandoval and Joana Lira, the packaging looks’ are very very Brazilian indeed, with all the colorful designs.
I was invited by L’Occitane Indonesia to their event at Skye on a very nice afternoon with all the Brazilian snacks and drinks, I felt I was in Rio. LOL. There were Capoeira and samba dancers too!
VITORIA REGIA has two scents, made from two different phases of the water lily flowers. The Day Flower’s fragrance is fresh with green notes, mixed with orange, lemon & green apple. While the Night Flower’s fragrance is more floral and powdery with a touch of green notes and lime, hyacinth, peony, musk and sandalwood.
JENIPAPO, also included a range of sunscreen for face and body, with fruity and floral scents, such as citron, watermelon, pinacolada, lily of the valley, frangipani, musk, sandalwood & vanilla.
My favorite range is VITORIA REGIA Night Flower. I love how sophisticated the powdery scent from the Eau De Cologne. I wish they’ll make Eau De Parfum version of it. These range will be available in L’Occitane Indonesia stores just in time for the World Cup kick off, on June 12, 2014. Get ready to shop!
BRIGHTNESS ON A BRUSH
I can live without colors on my face, but I can’t make it through the day without a concealer.
Who woke up looking like Miranda Kerr (except her, of course!)? For mere human being like moi, I woke up with the worst dark circles, and those aging spots are catching up too. That’s why I need concealer, stat! I tried so many concealers already, some met my expectations, some not. I love having a concealer which can conceal correctly (hellooooo!!!!), blend easily (read: nice texture) and didn’t cake.
Recently, I’ve been using L’Occitane Immortelle Brightening Touch Targeted Corrector, the latest tinted brush concealer from Immortelle range. And my beauty verdicts are:
L’Occitane Immortelle Brightening Touch Targeted Corrector is now available throughout L’Occitane Indonesia’s stores or you can go online, here.
MY HANDS ARE VERY BUSY
Being a health freak that I am, I wash my hands (I think) more than normal people do every day. Dry skin on the back of my hands and torn cuticles are the most disgusting problems when I forgot or too busy to care for my hands.
I typed (when I work to write for magazines or to blog), I deal with chains & the necklace making tools (when I work for my accessories online store) and I do my own laundry (I don’t trust my helper, pronto!). So, imagine how busy my hands are every single day. And…how often my hands being washed, dried, dirty, wash and dried again. Over and over.. Well you got the idea.
That’s why I keep my hand cream close. That close! I always have one in my beauty bag to travel and I keep one closer, on my bedside table. I tend to slathered more at night time. Me resting, and so do my hands! As you can imagine, I’ve tried plenty of hand creams. Many..many brands. But I found my hands keep coming back to L’Occitane. The good and trustable, Shea Butter Hand Cream. It absorbed quickly as 1,2 3, I love the tube packaging and the scent reminds me of Provence. Apparently, I’m not the only fans, as one tube of Shea Butter Hand Cream is sold every three seconds around the world.
This year, Shea Butter Hand Cream celebrates its 20th anniversary (Yeay! Congrats!). And L’Occitane Indonesia invited me to try their famous signature hand massage and manicure in their pop up booth at Pacific Place, Jakarta, yesterday (thanks L’Occitane Indonesia). After the hand massage and manicure at the booth, I believe it’s very easy and time saving for all of us to try this hand treatment at home, instead of just slathering on hand cream to keep them hydrated. First, scrub for one minute with L’Occitane One-Minute Hand Scrub then rinse properly. Dry your hands with towel, and apply your choice of L’Occitane Hand Cream liberally on the back of the hands (& palms if you wish). Finally, brush on Shea Butter Nail & Cuticle Nourishing Oil on the cuticles. Voila! That simple and fast.
You can easily find these L’Occitane products at L’Occitane authorized boutiques. Please be aware of counterfeit products, especially via internet sales. Where to shop? Please visit L’Occitane Indonesia’s website here.
SUPER DRY SKIN?
Moisturizer is NOT your one and only beauty savior. Read on.
When your skin or the climate is acting up on us, making our skin drier than usual, reach out for these products.
1 FRESH SUGAR FACE POLISH
Yes we still have to exfoliate to get rid of those dead skin cells on the surface.
2 LA MER THE HYDRATING FACIAL MASK
Face mask is the essential product to keep our skin plump and well-hydrated.
3 L’OCCITANE DIVINE EXTRACT SERUM
It’s just not another layer, OK? Facial serum can give us added moisture into deeper layers of our skin, which moisturizer can’t do. That’s why it costs more too.
4 CLINIQUE MOISTURE SURGE EXTENDED THIRST RELIEF
Dry skin is one thing, but dehydrated skin is another problem. Without any hydration help, our skin would be flaky, itchy and feel tight.
5 KIEHL’S MIDNIGHT RECOVERY CONCENTRATE
While we were sleeping, our beloved skin is regenerating. A potent night serum will work its’ charm and magically transform dry skin to moist skin over night.
NO TIME TO PUT ON BODY LOTION?
Here’s to our beauty savior.
In this wonderful world of beauty, you really have to try anything and I mean it. That’s precisely why this blog existed in the first place. The key words will be: you won’t know until you try. Exactly my thought when I tried L’Occitane Amande Shower Oil.
I won’t know if it :
– Smells heavenly. I wish L’Occitane will make the same fragrance of this scent.
– Looks like oil, feels like oil, but not oily. Get it? It’s weird, hard to explain until you try it yourself.
– Cleanse my body like never before. It’s not foamy, yet my skin feels so clean.
– Makes my razor glides evenly. Use this oil as a base for shaving on dry skin before taking a bath, and feel how smooth the result is.
– Leaves sort of satiny feeling after I towel dry.
– Cuts my morning rush time. I’ve tried using body lotion afterwards, it won’t absorb like usual. This shower oil made me realize, ‘hey, I probably don’t need body lotion anymore’.
AND THE JOURNEY OF LOVE CONTINUES …
I practically grow old with this brand, and as some said ‘time makes love grow stronger’, that’s exactly how I feel about L’Occitane.
The skincare and fragrance brand inspired by Provence, southeast of France, is actually founded by Olivier Baussan in 1976. But in my hometown, Jakarta, Indonesia, it has been 10 years since the first L’Occitane store opened.
And they were celebrating it with fellow press, bloggers and VIP customers yesterday, with a theme “Celebrating 10 years of love” in Ratatouille French Bistro, Jakarta. Kudos for L’Occitane Indonesia with their all out efforts to deliver Provence theme to the celebration. From the atmospheres, right down to the meals and the ingredients from Provence, were delivered nicely. Check out more pictures of the celebration here.
Sarah Damanik, Senior Manager of Marketing of L’Occitane Indonesia shared some info that they will open more stores this year, as they’re committed to the Indonesian customers who love this premium yet approachable brand. Currently they have 29 stores in Jakarta, Surabaya, Medan, Bali, Bandung, Makassar and Balikpapan. Their 30th stores in Indonesia will open next month in Grand Indonesia, Jakarta.
Now, you can also order L’Occitane products, including their 3 best sellers in Indonesia: Almond Milk Concentrate, Immortelle Brightening Cream and Shea Butter Hand Cream (the last one reportedly sold every 3 seconds around the world), through Mail Order (order@aba-id.com).
If you’re located in Indonesia and you want to try their famous hand cream, visit and like their facebook page. They’re also handing out free tickets to Paris, you don’t want to miss this. I know I won’t.
It’s a perfect time to renew everything.
Including my makeup bag. I’ve been having the green makeup bag from Muji like forever, if it can talk, it’ll say ‘enough’. So, for 2013, I’ll go for metallic makeup bag from MAC (from Magic, Mirth & Mischief Collection).
Used to carry a lot inside my makeup bag, it was bulging and not to mention, heavy. So I cut down a few pieces and replaced them with double duty beauty products.
What’s inside my makeup bag for the upcoming year?
– Yves Saint Laurent Touche Eclat : I carry concealer every day, to retouch under eyes makeup and side noses. It won’t crack over foundation & powder.
– Kate Spade ‘Pop’ Lipstick Crayon : Always carry two lipsticks, one for night and one for day. I use this convenient lipstick crayon for night look (sometimes for day too, depends on the mood).
– Soap & Glory ‘Naked Beige’ Lipstick : Now, this is my serious day lipstick when I want to be under the fabulous radar. LOL.
– The Body Shop Lily Cole ‘Pink’ Lip & Cheek Dome : Double duty, and I don’t have to carry my blush brush anymore. Just dab and pat. Love it.
– RMK Pressed Powder : It’s actually a setting powder to provide flawless finish, but I found it great to keep the skin matte without looking dull.
– Kiehl’s Aromatic Blends Nashi Blossom & Pink Grapefruit Fragrance : Perfect size for traveling in a chic minimalist 30 ml bottle. So me.
– L’Occitane Smooth Hands : Because I wash my hands a lot and dry hands are big NO NO.
FINISH WHAT I STARTED
This month empties from my adventure on beauty and body care products.
1. Neutrogena Visibly Clear Pink Grapefruit Cream Wash
I’m an old fashioned woman who loves my facial wash to be foamy. Lots of them. As I like my oily face to be squeaky clean at the end of the cleaning process, this probably the first Neutrogena product that I didn’t like. It might be cleansing gently, but with the creamy texture and a weird scent of pink grapefruit which didn’t produce any foam at all, this is certainly not my favorite. I think it might work for drier skin type. Repurchase? No.
2. L’Occitane Radiance and Colour Care Mask
I change my hair color every month, so hair treatment is a definite must for me. And this hair mask did wonder to my chemically treated (read: dry and coarse) hair. I love the green notes which remind me of freshly cut grass and the not so thick texture it has. I put this on once a week after shampoo & conditioner. I leave the mask on under the shower cap while I cleaned the rest of my body, then washed it away at the very end of my shower. Unlike any other hair mask I’ve tried, this won’t put any oily trick on my oily scalp, so it’s a bonus. When my hair dries, it does feel more relaxed, easier to comb and look shinier. Repurchase? Yup, definitely.
3. Sally Hansen Airbrush Legs
Uneven skin tone is a total blah. For me, this product works like concealer slash foundation for my legs. OK, I admit, sometimes I used it on my arms as well. Not just covering any imperfections, but I use this to make my pale skin look more tan. Although they recommend to spray it straight from the can, but I feel better if I mixed it with my daily body lotion, then applied with hands. I think it does spread evenly using my technique. Repurchase? Yes, I need this when I’m on my skirt and sleeveless mode.
FINISH WHAT I STARTED
This will be my first post for everything that I have emptied from my adventure on beauty and body care products.
Personally, I never leave half empty products hanging around my drawers or in the bathroom for too long. I tried, I conquered and I’ll make sure I finished it if I love it. The rest is history, as I hate to see clutters.
Now, I’m going to share the products that I’ve emptied recently.
1. MAC STUDIO FIX NC30
I’ve been using this compact powder foundation for ages. So, to tell you the truth this is not my first MAC Studio Fix I’ve emptied. It works wonder for my oily skin and stay forever until I took it off after a long day. Repurchase? You bet!
2. L’OCCITANE CHERRY PRINCESS HAND CREAM
This delicately cherry fragranced hand cream is one of my must have. Contain nourishing shea butter (FYI, L’Occitane shea butter hand cream is sold every three seconds around the world), this is my day hand cream. Repurchase? Too bad, this is a limited edition product, so I might switch to other similar scent from L’Occitane, Fleur Cherie.
3. NEUTROGENA DEEP CLEAN FOAMING CLEANSER
Whenever I got a chance to go abroad, I’ll stock up on this facial cleanser from the drugstore. With a very accessible price, this cleanser really did what it said. Deep clean. It gives my oily skin a matte looking face for hours and keeping the acne at bays. It gives enough foaming action without no scent. Repurchase? Yes. But if I’m running out of stocks, usually I switch to SK-II Facial Treatment Cleanser, which I love as well.
4. KERASTASE REFLECTION CHROMA THERMIQUE THERMO-SHINE THERMO-RADIANCE PROTECTING MILK
Phew, that was a long name for a product, don’t you think? When I had my naturally straight hair (I had mine curled now), this product is a true helper since I will use my straightener every day. Not only protecting my hair from the heat of straightener, but I feel my hair got straightened more easily. And I love the floral scent it left on my hair. Repurchase? Maybe, if I ever decided to get back to my straightener and straight hair again.
